Job description

ABOUT US Parallel is a web infrastructure company. Our products are used by leading businesses in sales, marketing, insurance, and coding to build best-in-class AI agents with flexible and powerful programmatic access to the web. We've raised $230 million from Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, First Round, and Terrain to build the web for AIs. We're currently valued at $2 billion and we're forming a world-class team of engineers, designers, marketers, sellers, researchers, and operational experts to achieve our mission. THE ROLE: You will build and operate the security foundations that protect Parallel’s production infrastructure, internal systems, and access to both. You will own how people, services, and agents authenticate, what they can reach, how production is hardened, and how security controls are enforced from source code through running workloads. You will work across identity and access, cloud and Kubernetes security, software supply chain integrity, logging and detection infrastructure, endpoint security, and recovery. You will design secure defaults engineers inherit rather than configure, and build the systems that make access, changes, and recovery measurable and auditable. You will also help define how AI coding agents operate inside Parallel’s own infrastructure, including what they can access, what privileges they receive, and how their actions are constrained and logged. ABOUT YOU: Have deep intuition on cloud infrastructure, identity, network security, and production systems. You like to reason about which controls materially reduce risk and which ones mostly create process. You write and ship code, prefer automation over manual controls, and are comfortable working at the boundary between security, platform engineering, and reliability. You can land changes across teams you do not manage, make practical tradeoffs, and build durable security foundations rather than controls that need constant tending. YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE: - Significant experience building or operating infrastructure or security systems in production cloud environments - Deep experience in at least one of identity and authorization, cloud and Kubernetes security, or logging and detection platforms - Strong cloud, network, secrets management, and workload isolation fundamentals - Experience building secure deployment pipelines, including artifact provenance, immutability, secret scanning, and software supply chain controls - Experience designing centralized logging, alerting, and detection infrastructure across cloud, SaaS, identity, and endpoints - Strong production coding and automation skills in Terraform, Python, Go, or similar tools - A track record of shipping security controls across an engineering organization, including making tradeoffs to get them adopted - Experience with endpoint security, device trust, recovery planning, SOC 2, customer audits, or contractual security requirements is a plus - Experience securing AI or agentic systems is a plus LIFE AT PARALLEL Our team works fully in-person, between our Palo Alto HQ and San Francisco office. We’re a flat, talent-dense organization dedicated to solving technical and creative problems. We seek like-minded individuals who share our passion for applying science, creativity, and consistency to big and complex problems with equally big outcomes. These are our values: - Own customer impact: It’s on us to ensure real-world outcomes for our customers. - Obsess over craft: Perfect every detail because quality compounds. - Accelerate change: Ship fast, adapt faster, and move frontier ideas into production. - Create win-wins: Creatively turn trade-offs into upside. - Make high-conviction bets: Try and fail. But succeed an unfair amount. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Competitive salary - Generous equity - Visa sponsorships - 401K plans - Daily lunch & office snacks - Dinner at the office - Unlimited vacation - Caltrain pass reimbursement
