Job description

ABOUT TRIGGER.DEV Trigger.dev trigger.dev is an open source platform used by developers to build production-grade AI agents. It's an SDK and the infrastructure to run agents reliably at scale, so teams can focus on the product instead of the plumbing. Our Cloud product is a managed service where we deploy our users' code and auto-scale from zero to millions of executions. With the rise of AI, being able to offload async tasks reliably is a key part of any developer's toolkit - we're building the infrastructure to make that a reality. ABOUT THE POSITION We're looking for someone based in San Francisco whose entire job is turning up to events, meeting developers, advocating for Trigger, and being brilliant. This role is deliberately narrow: it's 100% events, not product education, content strategy, or general marketing. The work breaks down into three things: showing up to existing events (meetups, AI Tinkers, YC events, conferences) and being visibly excellent in the room; getting speaking slots at those events and delivering awesome talks; and, over time, organizing our own events or co-hosting them with other big tech names, like joint hackathons at the YC offices. The goal is pure awareness. You might not even mention Trigger.dev trigger.dev by name at most events - the point is being visibly excellent and well-liked in the rooms where developers already are, so that a groundswell of Trigger.dev trigger.dev mentions builds naturally across the SF ecosystem over time. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING You'll do a variety of things including: - Turn up to events, meet developers, advocate for Trigger, be brilliant - attending SF developer events, meetups, AI Tinkers, YC events, and conferences, and building genuine relationships across the SF developer and founder ecosystem - Get speaking slots at existing events, deliver awesome talks - pitching yourself for talks and panels, and showing up polished and memorable when you get the slot - Organize our own events (or co-host them with other big tech names) - running Trigger.dev trigger.dev meetups or talks, and exploring joint events like hackathons co-hosted at spaces such as the YC offices - Optionally writing blog recaps or producing short YouTube clips of talks, where it's a natural byproduct of the work rather than the focus - Working largely independently - you'll be on your own in SF a lot, so being deeply self-motivated is essential - Reporting back on activity: number of events attended, video of any talks given, and a written recap of who you met REQUIREMENTS You really need to have: - Genuine stage presence and charisma - we'll want to see video evidence of you speaking, presenting, or performing (YouTube is the bar) - A developer background; you should be credible and comfortable in a room of engineers - High self-motivation - this role has little day-to-day oversight and a real risk of isolation, so you need to thrive working independently - Genuine belief in what Trigger.dev trigger.dev is building, since you'll be representing us informally in every room you're in You'll be an amazing fit if you: - Are an ex-YC founder, giving you access to YC-only events and community - Existing relationships or an existing audience within the SF/AI developer or founder scene - Been an early-stage founder yourself, or are very early in your career and highly self-directed - A track record of speaking at or organizing developer events - Have a social media presence ABOUT THE TEAM - We are a small team with a flat hierarchy - We encourage continuous learning and personal development - Everyone operates autonomously; we trust you to get the job done, but to also quickly raise your hand if you need help - We care about our customers and the open-source community - Being a start-up, the work is challenging and fast-paced, but we also understand the importance of taking time off to recharge WORKING AT A COMMERCIAL OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE COMPANY IS MORE THAN JUST YOUR DAY JOB - We have an active community on Discord and GitHub. Everyone on the team helps customers, reviews PRs, and creates issues - Great documentation matters more than ever, both for humans and for the AI tools that read it. Everyone here keeps docs up to date - We are a product-led growth company so everyone is expected to get involved in creating content like code examples, blog articles, videos and tweets BENEFITS - Generous, transparent compensation and equity - We hire the best talent and pay to reflect that. We also offer equity as a way to ensure everyone is invested in the success of the company. - Async working - Need a heads-down day or meeting-free days to stay productive? No problem! - Home office - We will help provide equipment for a comfortable setup so you're as productive at home as you are in the office. - Generous vacation - We believe it's important to take time off. We encourage you to take your 25 days vacation excluding national holidays, plus sick leave and generous parental leave. - Training budget - An annual budget to contribute towards learning such as purchasing books, an Audible subscription or online courses. - Pension and 401k contributions - Enroll in our company pension scheme or we'll contribute directly to your private pension.
