Job description
Director of Business Development & Operations - Cooperative Technologies
About Cooperative Technologies
Cooperative Technologies (“CT”) is the only company in the US that provides ceding carrier data for annuity and life insurance exchanges, making the platform the de facto standard for replacement processing. The market for US annuity sales is projected to double to ~$900B by 2030 with CT at the center of that growth.
CT is at an inflection point and looking for a future leader to own the next chapter of revenue growth for the organization. This is a rare opportunity to join a profitable, category-defining software company as its key right-hand leader. You will have a mandate to build the function, grow the client base, run a profitable business, and earn a path to leading the business. The right candidate will combine deep insurance industry relationships with an operator’s mindset.
What You will Actually Do
· Own CT’s revenue growth strategy to identify, pursue, and close new ceding carrier relationships as the annuity market expands.
· Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects (e.g., insurance carriers, insurance sales entities, TPAs, etc.) from first contact through signed agreement.
· Collaborate with Client Services, Product, and Operations Management to ensure coordinated client and partner onboarding, retention, and product penetration.
· Partner closely with the product operations and engineering leadership to translate client needs into the product roadmap and represent market requirements. Develop pricing structures, contract terms, and proposal materials for new client engagements.
· Represent CT at industry conferences, carrier forums, and regulatory working groups to build brand presence and source pipeline
· Work with Solen Marketing to create CT marketing materials and web presence.
· Improve the existing sales playbook with a focus on process design, forecasting, and implementing workflows that scale.
Required Qualifications
· 10+ years of operations, sales, business development, or relationship management experience in large corporate environments, working with annuities, life insurance, or related insurance / financial service solutions.
· Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with corporate leadership and business teams.
· Working knowledge of annuity lifecycle management.
· Successfully managed budget planning and forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience either buying or selling B2B SaaS to insurance or financial services clients.
· Track record of owning a revenue book, managing complex sales cycles, negotiating and closing professional services contracts.
What Success Looks Like - First 90 Days
· Engage key CT client accounts to strengthen relationships and uncover new upsell opportunities within existing accounts
· Support CT’s CEO to future-proofing the business, positioning the company for a smooth handoff to the next generation of leadership
· Map CT’s current client base, flagging expansion opportunities and at-risk accounts.
· Iterate upon CT’s sales playbook with ICP definition, outreach templates, discovery questions, and proposal framework.
Who You will Work With
You will report directly to CT’s Chief Executive Officer with full visibility of the company’s financial performance, product strategy, and client relationships from day one. This role is designed for someone who wants to earn the keys to the business not just lead sales but grow into leading CT. You will work closely with the Product Manager on client-driven roadmap priorities and collaborate with CT’s technical team during carrier onboarding and integration.
What We Offer
· Real autonomy to build the sales function, process, and pipeline from the ground up.
· A defined path to broader leadership across S&M, R&D, and IT for the right operator, designed to grow with the company.
· Mentorship from CT’s founding leadership team and Operating Partner network at Solen.
· Exposure to the Solen portfolio company ecosystem, best practices guilds, and functional leads across vertical software.
We thank all applicants for their interest in joining Solen Software Group. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
