When you join the team here, you'll be helping to produce some of the most iconic cereal brands, including Honey Bunches of Oats™, PEBBLES™, and Grape-Nuts™ cereal. The Battle Creek plant is also unique as it is home to the original barn where C.W. Post started the Postum cereal company in 1895. Responsibilities At Post Consumer Brands, reliability is more than preventing downtime. It is how we build a smarter, more resilient operation. As a Reliability Engineer, you will partner closely with maintenance and operations, combining equipment data with hands-on mechanical understanding to identify risk early, focus work where it matters most, and improve equipment performance every day. You will bring proactive reliability practices to the plant floor, turning lessons from breakdowns into prevention and translating equipment-condition insights into practical action. Key Responsibilities • Use equipment health and performance data to identify issues early, recommend solutions, and help teams prioritize the highest-impact work. • Partner with maintenance and operations to reduce repeat failures through root cause problem-solving and continuous improvement. • Support daily and weekly execution by contributing to maintenance planning, scheduling, routine reporting, and prioritization. • Use asset management and CMMS tools to turn information into clear, practical decisions for the plant floor. • Apply and promote condition-based reliability practices that improve uptime and equipment stability. • Champion reliability priorities within assigned areas by helping teams understand current equipment condition, define the desired condition, and determine what to address next. Why You’ll Love This Role • Make a visible impact through meaningful work and see the results of your improvements on the plant floor. • Build your career with big company resources and a culture that values ownership, flexibility, and practical action. • Collaborate with maintenance, process engineering, operations, and other partners to improve how the plant runs. • Grow toward broader opportunities in engineering or maintenance leadership. • Help deliver on our purpose to make lives better by making delicious food accessible for all. Location & Travel Requirements • Work on site in the Battle Creek, Michigan plant, with daily presence in the plant environment and close partnership with maintenance and operations teams. • Work a 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule. • Move between assigned plant areas or teams as business needs require. No specific travel requirement is defined. Qualifications Required Qualifications • Experience in a manufacturing environment with strong mechanical understanding. • Typically five or more years of experience in maintenance systems, reliability or asset health work, or maintenance supervision or leadership. • Ability to use data and process thinking to support priorities with evidence and communicate recommendations clearly. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred. • Food manufacturing experience preferred. Success in This Role • Take initiative to identify problems, build practical plans, and drive work through completion. • Collaborate effectively with skilled trades, engineers, operations partners, and other cross-functional teams. • Combine curiosity, mechanical insight, sound judgment, and a bias for action to prevent failures before they occur. Ready to Make an Impact? If you are a hands-on, data-driven problem solver who wants to prevent the next failure, not just respond to it, bring your mechanical know-how and proactive approach to help build reliability that lasts.
