Job description

Catchafire brings together government, philanthropy, business, and volunteers with the goal of bridging paths to stronger communities. We have been shifting skills and resources to communities across the country for over a decade. Every day, we help communities grow stronger by listening to what they need and making sure they get those resources. We are the leading online platform for nonprofits to connect with everyday professionals -our team has helped nonprofits create over 200 million dollars in value, with over 1 million volunteer hours donated. Our purpose is simple: Bridging paths to stronger communities. Learn more at catchafire.org catchafire.org Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for employment at this time. ESSENCE OF THE ROLE Nonprofits do essential work with very few hands, and AI will change what they can accomplish. It could give them back hours they never had, or it could widen the gap between organizations that can adopt it and those that cannot. Catchafire exists to ensure no nonprofits get left behind. As a Senior Product Manager on our Platform team, you’ll help shape and scale the marketplace platform at the heart of Catchafire’s impact, connecting pro bono professionals with the organizations that need them most. You will own the end-to-end product strategy and delivery for a core area of our platform, collaborating across engineering, UX, and design to ship high-impact solutions from inception to results tracking. We are doubling down on AI as a core competitive advantage: you will not only evaluate where AI and machine learning can meaningfully transform the user experience for nonprofits and volunteers, while building measurable capacity for nonprofits. If you are a builder who thrives on solving ambiguous, mission-critical problems with a rigorous, data-driven approach, you'll find this role both challenging and deeply rewarding. This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering. RESPONSIBILITIES - Strategic Partnership: Help shape where AI capability fits into the broader platform roadmap, and operate as a strategic partner to engineering and leadership, not just an execution arm, translating technical tradeoffs into business terms. - Technical & AI Leadership: Decide where AI and machine learning can help nonprofits and volunteers do more, prototype, build, and ship those features, and measure what they change. Help to evolve AI workflows with the team, and create time for teammates to share practices and build fluency together. - User Advocate: Build a strong, evidence-based point of view on how customers and end users engage with the platform and what they need to succeed, through direct research and ongoing product ownership. - Research & Planning: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research (user interviews, surveys, data analysis, using AI tools to accelerate synthesis) to inform the roadmap, feature backlog, and product documentation, including user stories, flows, specs, and test plans. - Delivery: Partner with design and tech to lead sprints and hit delivery timelines, contributing to a high-functioning team culture around strong execution. - Results Measurement: Use analytics to track feature performance against benchmarks and business goals, and translate insights into roadmap decisions. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE - 2+ years of hands-on experience designing, shipping, or iterating on AI or ML-powered product features, with a clear point of view on when AI is, and isn't, the right solution to a problem. - Fluency using AI tools in your own workflow — such as research synthesis, spec writing, prototyping, and data analysis — and enthusiasm for sharing effective practices and helping teammates experiment with and adopt these tools. - Experience with marketplace platforms and/or B2B enterprise software - Comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems, building systems, and shipping without heavy process scaffolding. - 5+ years in product management, with strong data-driven prioritization, systems problem-solving, and roadmap development, including at least one successful product launch at a growth-stage startup. - Technical fluency and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with strong engineering teams. - Experience working with large, strategic, or enterprise-level partners (e.g., corporate funders, foundations), and comfort presenting product strategy and tradeoffs directly to executive stakeholders. - Experience running agile sprints and experimenting with lightweight, fit-for-purpose processes to improve team velocity and collaboration. - Strong research aptitude, qualitative and quantitative, with hands-on experience in tools like SQL, Posthog, Fullstory, or Google Analytics. - Fast learner, comfortable picking up new tools and systems quickly, with a track record of executing in fast-paced environments. COMPETENCIES Mission-first: You are deeply committed to understanding the philanthropic sector and the unique challenges of our users. You are motivated by our vision to transform the nonprofit landscape. AI-fluent & Forward-looking: You have hands-on experience building AI/ML features and can pragmatically evaluate when AI is the right solution. You integrate AI tools into your own workflow (research, specs, prototyping) and champion AI fluency across the team. Self-driven: You are a motivated self-starter who navigates ambiguity with ownership. You define work clearly, proactively resolve roadblocks, and follow through to ensure projects are delivered successfully. Data-driven: You make decisions backed by qualitative and quantitative research. You extract insights, challenge assumptions, and synthesize user feedback to drive actionable outcomes. Strong Execution: You turn big ideas into reality. You plan, communicate, and execute effectively, balancing technical trade-offs to optimize for both efficiency and value. Collaborative: You build strong cross-functional relationships and operate effectively with senior leadership. You elevate team output and are skilled at aligning stakeholders to create cohesive solutions. Systems Thinker: You synthesize information rapidly and drive continuous improvement. You structure your work in a scalable, systematic way to maximize learning and team efficiency. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The salary range for this role spans $140,000 - $150,000 annually and includes an equity component. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Unlimited PTO and paid time off to volunteer 401K, medical, vision, and dental insurance Professional development stipend Catchafire is a remote-first workplace.
