Job description

The Trade Desk is a global technology company and the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising, with over 3,000 employees across more than 30 offices. Our technology helps advertisers reach the right audiences across the open internet — from streaming TV and podcasts to mobile apps, news, and more. Advertising powers the content people love. By making it more transparent, effective, and responsible, we help support trusted journalism, quality entertainment, and creators worldwide. The world’s brands and agencies rely on us to reach their customers and grow their businesses responsibly. The scale of our platform brings unique technical challenges — from processing massive datasets in real time to building systems that operate reliably on a global scale. When you work here, your impact is worldwide. We welcome diverse perspectives, encourage curiosity, and build teams that learn from one another. If you’re driven to solve meaningful challenges, we’d love to meet you. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Our mission is to ensure the Trade Desk engineering team can deliver products to our customers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our goal is that our engineers within the Trade Desk are happy, efficient, and productive. If you are technical, data-driven and creative, with a deep understanding of the software development (SDLC) process and a day in the life of an enterprise developer, with a passion for building great developer experiences, we would love to talk to you about the open positions on our PM team. The Trade Desk Product Team hires courageous, passionate PMs who set big goals and execute them. We help you grow and challenge you with hard, meaningful work. We celebrate our successes and learn from our failures together. We value and develop strong leadership, asking our PMs to take on ambitious and often ambiguous projects that promise to extend our lead in the industry. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Our teams own the software development life cycle at the Trade Desk – from the first day of a new developer, to the first discussions about a feature, to coding and debugging, through deployment into our global data centers, and all the way to A/B Testing and Experimentation. Our goal is to build tools, frameworks, automation and processes that help our developers focus their time on delivering customer value. You will be responsible for understanding the needs of our Trade Desk Engineering Team, the tools and processes that they use, the technical governance standards they must meet, and industry trends and best practices. You will be responsible for taking all of that information to define our developer experience (DX) strategy and the roadmap to get there. This includes; refining the local developer environment, how developers checkout, build, and merge code, how developers conduct code reviews, and the stewardship process for cross-team code submissions. You will also be responsible for developing the AI strategy and tools that help engineers be more efficient, innovative, and focus more time on inner development loop activities. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and other key stakeholders to develop the right metrics that drive data-driven decisions and drive execution against the roadmaps you create. This is a strategic role within the Trade Desk Development Platform organization where you will be leading deeply technical projects, AI development strategies, and providing leadership in a complex, fast-paced environment. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: 6+ years of direct Product Management enterprise software development experience working with local developer tools and IDE’s, source code repositories, build and merge processes, deployment frameworks and tools, and product / feature releases. A deep understanding of the role of AI in the life of a developer including AI IDE plugins and CLI tools, MCP Servers, AI agent frameworks, and how these work to improve the SDLC. Demonstrated "working backwards" from internal customers to build long term strategies and solutions. A passion for building great developer experiences and a track record of having done so. A proven track record of partnering with engineering teams to solve complex, technical problems and delivering large and impactful software projects with measurable business outcomes. Excellent communication skills including the confidence to participate in very technical conversations, the ability to drive consensus and commitment, and the ability to crisply communicate delivery timelines, trade-offs and risks to senior management. Durability and grit -- sometimes solutions take creative thinking, multiple iterations, and staging while dependencies solidify. You try many different approaches to the right answer. Enthusiasm for all things developer, DevOps, emerging technologies, and a desire to keep on top of industry trends The Trade Desk does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firm recruiters.
