Job description

ABOUT CANALS Canals builds software for wholesale distributors, helping them operate more efficiently through automation and AI. Our customers are the companies responsible for moving the materials that power the real economy; electrical supplies, plumbing products, roofing materials, HVAC equipment, and more. Every day, thousands of people rely on Canals to help process orders, manage purchasing, handle accounts payable, and streamline critical business workflows. We're a profitable, rapidly growing company with a team of roughly 140 people distributed across North and South America. We care deeply about building great products, hiring exceptional people, and creating an environment where talented individuals can do the best work of their careers. THE ROLE As a Senior Product Designer at Canals, you'll play a central role in shaping the future of distribution through AI-powered products. You'll partner closely with product, engineering, and company leadership to turn complex operational challenges into intuitive, high-impact product experiences. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership. You'll work across multiple product areas, from core workflows to entirely new capabilities, taking ideas from early exploration through launch and continuous iteration. You'll help shape AI-powered product experiences, designing workflows that help users make smarter decisions and accomplish more with less manual effort. We're looking for someone who's comfortable with ambiguity, driven by impact, and motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of our product while helping design evolve as the company grows. Our ideal candidate has great product thinking - driven to understand the nuance of a customer's need and deliver an elegant solution. The tools you use matter. The way you think and make decisions matters more. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Lead the end-to-end design of new products and features, bringing clarity to complex, cross-functional challenges. - Work across multiple product areas, balancing shifting priorities while making informed decisions and moving quickly. - Partner closely with product and engineering to define problems, shape solutions, and drive products from concept to launch. - Get involved early, when problems are still messy and directions aren't set, and shape the conversation, not just respond to it. - Prototype ideas, test assumptions, and iterate based on customer feedback and product data. - Balance long-term product vision with fast-paced execution, making thoughtful tradeoffs as priorities evolve. - Raise the bar for the overall product experience while contributing to the evolution of our design system. WHAT YOU'LL BRING - 5+ years of experience designing complex B2B SaaS products, ideally involving operational workflows, data-rich experiences, or AI-powered products. - A portfolio that demonstrates how you think: framing complex problems and translating them into intuitive, user-centered products. - Strong product thinking and the ability to connect design decisions to customer needs and business outcomes. - Exceptional attention to detail, with the judgment to know which details matter most. - Confidence to advocate for your ideas, challenge assumptions, and influence product decisions while remaining open to feedback and new perspectives. - A curious mindset and a desire to explore how AI and emerging technologies can improve real customer workflows. WHY JOIN CANALS We're building software that solves real problems for an industry that keeps the world running. Our customers rely on our platform every day to operate their businesses. We've found strong product-market fit and continue to grow quickly, creating opportunities for people who want to have a meaningful impact on the trajectory of a company. We believe great people build great companies. That's why we invest heavily in hiring, development, and creating an environment where talented individuals can do the best work of their careers. You'll work alongside ambitious, thoughtful teammates who care deeply about what they do, challenge each other directly, and have a lot of fun along the way. We value ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and people are trusted to make things happen. We're remote-first, flexible, and distributed across North and South America, bringing together talented people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
