Job description

About NexHealth Our healthcare system remains frustratingly analog. When you live in a world of one-tap car rides, instant meal delivery, and unlimited streaming, why do you still have to call to schedule a doctor’s appointment and fill out a clipboard in the waiting room? NexHealth’s mission is to accelerate innovation in healthcare by connecting patients, providers, and developers. We’re building the infrastructure layer for modern healthcare, connecting thousands of fragmented, on-premise, and closed EHR systems into a single, modern platform that powers software, APIs, payments, and patient experiences across the ecosystem. Founded: 2017 Headquarters: San Francisco, CA Funding: $177M Series C Employees: 200+ Trusted by tens of thousands of providers and hundreds of health-tech developers — forging the infrastructure layer that modern healthcare needs About the Role We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of the Sync Core. Synchronizer provides native, real-time, bidirectional synchronization between numerous EHR systems of record and NexHealth’s harmonized central database. This foundation enables healthcare innovators to focus on improving patient experiences and outcomes—while we handle the underlying infrastructure. This work represents step two in our three-step master plan. You’ll play a critical role in increasing engineering quality and execution velocity across the organization, making it easier and faster to build and extend Synchronizers. You’ll partner with multiple engineering teams and product managers to define the next-generation Synchronizer API offering. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving novel systems challenges. No prior healthcare experience required. What You’ll Do Build and develop a high-performing team: Hire exceptional engineers and support their long-term growth through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development. Raise the bar on engineering excellence: Uphold strong technical standards through processes like architecture reviews, testing, and code quality practices. Lead cross-team execution: Coordinate closely across multiple engineering groups to deliver complex, cross-cutting, high-impact initiatives. Foster a strong engineering culture: Promote ownership, innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement as core expectations for the team What You’ll Bring 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including managing managers A proven track record of coaching, developing, and supporting both engineers and managers Deep experience delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems Strong judgment in balancing engineering velocity with long-term technical quality Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and cross-functional stakeholders Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical and organizational roadmaps with measurable impact A builder mindset with a history of scaling teams and systems in fast-paced, high-growth environments Strong ownership and initiative, especially in ambiguous and evolving contexts The ability to act as a change agent, helping guide our transformation into an API-first organization A bias for action and data-driven decision making First-principles thinking applied to both technical and organizational challenges Deep care for people development, team health, and long-term success Alignment with NexHealth’s mission and core values BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Compensation Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
