Job description
Position Overview
The Manager, Camp Marketing & Communications will develop and execute marketing initiatives and general camp-wide communications exclusively for Camp Lincoln for Boys and Camp Lake Hubert for Girls.
This hands-on role creates marketing materials, manages digital content, social media and online listings, coordinates projects and vendors, and provides creative direction and technical guidance to summer media teams.
The Manager works under the direction of the Camp Directors, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Corporate VP of Marketing. This role supports camper enrollment, seasonal staff recruitment, family engagement, and alumni relationships while preserving each camp’s distinct identity and traditions.
For more than a century, both camps have provided meaningful summer experiences where campers develop friendships, gain confidence, discover new interests, and create memories that last a lifetime. The Manager tells the stories of both camps, celebrates their traditions, and maintains each camp’s distinct identity, voice, and community.

Career Pathing and Growth:
With demonstrated success and high performance, this role could lead to additional opportunities in the Marketing field, Communications, or Camp Administration throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Develop and execute annual marketing strategies and plans for both camps with the Camp Directors and Corporate VP of Marketing, defining the vision, messaging, look, and feel within company brand standards. Maintain a year-round content calendar tied to enrollment, retention, session-balance, staff recruitment, and alumni priorities.
• Independently write, design, edit, and produce newsletters, email campaigns, brochures, flyers, graphics, presentations, social media posts, advertisements, and other digital and print communications.
• Create compelling content that authentically reflects each camp’s programs, traditions, values, friendships, and camper experience; proactively bring forward new ideas and campaigns.
• Maintain accurate, timely content on both camp websites; serve as the primary day-to-day contact with Milestone, track requests and revisions, and verify that approved updates are completed correctly.
• Keep American Camp Association (ACA) public listings, camp directories, and other external listings accurate and current, including dates, rates, programs, contact details, and photographs.
• Coordinate with Corporate Marketing and Milestone on search engine optimization, website analytics, paid digital advertising, technical website changes, and specialized design or print production. Agree on project ownership, deliverables, approvals, and deadlines to avoid duplicate work; retain responsibility for coordinating camp marketing through completion.
• Partner with the Manager, Camp Enrollment and Engagement, to generate qualified inquiries and provide campaign materials, lead-source information, and timely handoffs. That Manager owns the sales pipeline, prospective-family follow-up, tours, and conversion through enrollment; this role owns marketing campaigns and content. Support tours and recruitment events as coordinated, with clear ownership of each activity.
• Develop marketing materials and campaigns supporting seasonal staff recruitment, including job fair materials, testimonials, social media, and recruitment videos.
• Develop, coordinate, and distribute general camp-wide informational communications, family and alumni newsletters, alumni publications, and marketing for reunions, anniversaries, camp movie showings, and special events as approved by the Camp leaders and Corporate Marketing team. • Maintain accurate alumni communication records and preferences in coordination with camp leadership; support alumni relationships and referrals without duplicating enrollment responsibilities.
• Refer individual camper matters and family-specific questions to the appropriate Camp Director, designated camp leadership, or Manager, Camp Enrollment and Engagement.
• Coordinate production of camp yearbooks and other keepsake publications, including content collection, design, proofing, approvals, vendor coordination, and timely distribution. Source and coordinate approved camp merchandise and five- and ten-year recognition gifts, comparing pricing, managing orders, and arranging distribution.
• Work with the Camp Directors to establish photography, video, and media priorities for both camps. Assist with selecting and training seasonal photography and media staff and provide creative direction and technical guidance, including shot lists, content review, editing standards, organization, and timely delivery and uploads to approved family photo platforms. Camp leadership retains responsibility for daily supervision and personnel matters.
• Ensure appropriate media coverage across camper ages, activities, traditions, cabins, and daily camp life; identify gaps promptly and direct additional coverage.
• Provide technical feedback on media team members’ photography, video, productivity, and completion of media duties. Camp leadership provides feedback on participation in the camp community, relationships, conduct, and overall camp contribution; both perspectives inform performance evaluations.
• Ensure photography, video, and media use comply with camp policies for camper privacy, permissions, and appropriate content; maintain an organized, accessible archive of photographs, videos, templates, and approved creative assets.
• Own marketing projects from concept to delivery, coordinating vendors, timelines, revisions, approvals, budgets, and completion; provide proactive status updates and resolve delays rather than allowing projects to stall.
• Assist Camp Directors with annual marketing budgets; obtain competitive vendor pricing, track expenditures, and manage projects within approved allocations. Report regularly on campaign engagement, website performance, qualified inquiries by source and camp, spending, and project progress; recommend adjustments based on results.
• Create and publish routine marketing and informational content independently within guidelines and approval parameters established with the Camp Directors. Obtain approval from the appropriate Camp Director (in conjunction with Corporate Marketing) for significant announcements, policy-related communications, sensitive matters, new campaigns, and content outside those parameters before external use. Each Camp Director retains authority over priorities and spending affecting their respective camps (subject to transparency with and approval from the CEO).
• Maintain direct access to official camp social media accounts, with each Camp Director retaining administrative access and authority over their respective camp accounts.
• Participate in regular planning meetings and documented performance reviews with both Camp Directors, consistent with the position’s matrix reporting relationship. The Directors jointly establish shared goals and priorities and ensure both camps receive appropriate support. Seek and provide constructive feedback, and raise workload, resource, or collaboration concerns promptly to support realistic priorities and consistent expectations.
• This is a year-round position, with Minneapolis, Minnesota, as the off-season location. Work on-site at Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert throughout the summer camp season (generally May through September), with summer residency to support direct work with seasonal media staff and authentic camp content. Flexible work arrangements require corporate approval.
• Summer schedules include most evenings and weekends, with planned time off, coverage, and availability expectations agreed with the Camp Directors and respected except when urgent needs require an adjustment. • On-site housing provided from May through September.
• Travel between both camps and occasional travel for marketing initiatives and special events may be required; off-season work and travel arrangements are established with the Camp Directors.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
• Experience developing marketing campaigns and managing social media, digital content, general communications, website content, analytics, and media asset organization.
• Experience in residential summer camps, the outdoor hospitalilty industry, youth development, education, hospitality, or other family-focused organizations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently create high-quality marketing content across print, digital, social media, and email channels.
• Strong writing, editing, design judgment, and communication skills, with the ability to reflect two distinct camp identities, traditions, and voices.
• Excellent organization, project ownership, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through across competing deadlines and vendors.
• Ability to help select and train seasonal media employees and provide creative direction and constructive technical feedback in partnership with camp leadership.
• Professional judgment concerning camper privacy, family trust, approvals, and camp values.
• Ability to work on-site at both camps during summer, including most evenings and weekends, and to work a flexible seasonal schedule.
• Strong presentation and analytical skills; ability to translate marketing results into practical recommendations and collaborate respectfully across camp and corporate teams.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and bring fresh ideas and an appreciation for camp traditions while collaborating with camp leadership, seasonal staff, and corporate partners.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in marketing or communications required; four (4) or more years preferred. Demonstrated success independently managing marketing campaigns, communications projects, or comparable initiatives.
• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, photography/video editing, email marketing platforms, or related tools preferred.
• Experience directing or coordinating creative staff, contractors, or seasonal teams preferred.
