ABOUT STRAVA
Strava is the app for active people. With over 200 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where people make progress together, from new habits to new personal bests. No matter your sport or how you track it, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your goals, and make every effort count. Start your journey strava.com with Strava today.
Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Privacy and Identity team owns how every athlete securely accesses their Strava experience and builds the tools that help them understand and manage their privacy on Strava, from account security to giving people clear visibility into and control over their data across iOS, Android, and web.
We're looking for a fullstack engineer to help build and improve the systems that keep athlete accounts secure and easy to access. You'll work across mobile, web, and server, contributing to sign-up, login, password management, account recovery, and privacy controls. This role will span work across platforms and key product surfaces. No prior identity or authentication experience is required, just strong product engineering fundamentals and a willingness to learn quickly in a high-trust domain..
We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco office, three days per week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and ship features across account sign-up, login, password management, and account recovery, working across both mobile (iOS/Android) and backend services
- Design and implement clear, intuitive privacy controls that make it easy for athletes to understand and manage their experience and data on Strava
- Partner with Product, Security, Trust & Safety, and Legal to build features that meet compliance and platform integrity needs
- Help drive consistency in login, privacy, and account experiences across iOS, Android, and web
- Use data to monitor and improve login success rates, recovery flows, and engagement with privacy controls
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotations
- Break down ambiguous problems into well-scoped, multi-component solutions and weigh technical trade-offs
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with fullstack range spanning mobile (iOS or Android) and backend/server systems
- Comfort ramping up on systems that keep user accounts secure and easy to access; no prior identity-specific experience required
- Experience breaking down complex, ambiguous problems into multi-component solutions
- A product mindset: the ability to balance user experience with data protection and abuse prevention
- Strong collaboration skills, with comfort partnering across product, security, and legal stakeholders
- Experience with authentication protocols (OAuth, SSO) or in privacy- or compliance-sensitive domains is a plus
