You’ll work closely with our analysts, executives, and startup founders to uncover stories behind the companies and technologies shaping the future. You’ll use PR and social to amplify our point of view, grow our audience, and make CB Insights a source people actively follow for what matters in private tech.
This is a highly creative, hands-on role for someone with strong editorial instincts, deep media expertise, sharp creative taste, and an instinct for bold ideas that earn attention.
Your Key Responsibilities
Content & Storytelling

Partner with analysts to develop strong points of view that give people a reason to follow CB Insights.
Social Media
Build a distinctive social presence that grows the audience for CB Insights and our analysts.
Turn our strongest research, stories, and points of view into bold, original social formats that earn attention and give people a reason to follow CB Insights.
Develop analysts and executives into recognizable voices in the areas where CB Insights has expertise.
Build relationships with influential people and communities that can help our content reach the right people.
Activate our community, events, and recognized companies to help amplify the stories and insights they’re part of.
PR & Earned Media
Build relationships with tier 1 journalists and influential industry publications most relevant to our customers.
Drive earned media around our flagship lists and research to expand their reach and strengthen CB Insights’ authority.
Develop timely media angles around the markets and companies our analysts cover and rate, helping amplify their point of view and build credibility.
Turn major partnerships into broader stories that strengthen our credibility, and introduce CB Insights to new audiences.
Shape the CEO’s external communications and point of view across major company, market, and industry moments.
Prepare executives and analysts to represent CB Insights effectively in interviews, with clear messaging, strong talking points, and practical coaching.
What You Bring to the Table
5+ years of experience in public relations and social media, ideally focused on technology.
Strong creative instincts and a track record of developing unconventional ideas that break through.
Exceptional editorial judgment and an instinct for finding the story inside data, research, and conversations.
Excellent writer who can make complex ideas clear and interesting.
Proven ability to build strong journalist relationships and earn meaningful coverage.
Deep understanding of how to build an audience through social and earned distribution.
Experience developing executives or other experts into credible public voices.

CB Insights Leadership Principles
At CB Insights, everyone is expected to be a leader. These leadership principles are like an operating system for our culture. Use the principles as a practical guide to making decisions. We are what we repeatedly do. By living the principles outlined below, we will build an outstanding company and do insanely great work.
Solve customer problems. It’s our highest calling. Designing a product? Start from the customer problem it solves. Updating our sales process? Flip it around, and simplify the customer buying process.
Think BIG! Start small. Great changes start with a first step. Find it. Take it. Build a system around what works. This is the secret to bringing a vision to life.
Go and see with your own eyes. Meet the customer, use the product, talk to the field. Great systems aren’t built from afar.
Priorities: Choose one. Leaders give the gift of clarity. They find the most important thing and do it. Max power. Top speed.
Danger zones:
Bureaucracy. May the best ideas and execution win.
Complexity. Leaders use frameworks and systems to simplify.
No commitment. Leaders don’t compromise just to get along. Debate. Disagree. But once a decision is made, commit.
Leaving what’s important unsaid or undone. No “circling back.”
Data informs. Insight transforms. Pull the thread. Ask why. Leaders are curious. They use what they learn to create clarity.
Insist on excellence. Leaders set high standards and overcome obstacles. They do the kind of work they’re excited to share with the world.
Live off the land. Leaders creatively use resources already available to them – especially AI – to execute and automate their work.
Good judgment. Leaders have it. Where it comes from: insight, listening, first-hand experience. How to apply it: carefully on big, hard to reverse decisions. Swiftly on limited, easy to reverse ones.
Help others. Leaders know we’re building this together.
