The PLM Solutions Architect defines and governs application, integration, data, and process architectures for PLM capabilities, spanning product ideation, engineering design, manufacturing, quality, and in‑service support. The role combines deep technical expertise in PLM platforms and software development with strong systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, and leadership of cross‑functional teams to execute the tasks needed to ensure the success of the enterprise.
Note : Due to the classified nature of the work being performed, this position does not offer any virtual or telecommute working options. Applicants are encouraged to apply, only if they are willing to work on-site.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
PLM Solution & Enterprise Architecture
Define and own the end‑to‑end PLM solution architecture supporting product ideation, design, development, release, manufacturing, sustainment, and retirement.
Develop and maintain PLM application, integration, and data architectures that align with enterprise reference architectures, cybersecurity standards, and digital engineering strategies.
Create and maintain PLM architecture standards, reference models, and solution blueprints; ensure reuse of patterns across programs and business units.
Evaluate architectural options and drive buy/build/configure decisions for PLM capabilities, balancing performance, scalability, security, and total cost of ownership.
PLM Platform Leadership & Technical Direction
Provide technical leadership for one or more enterprise PLM platforms (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA, Aras Innovator, Oracle Agile PLM), including roadmap definition, capability evolution, and upgrade strategy.
Lead the design and review of PLM solution configurations, extensions, and customizations; set guidelines for configuration‑vs‑customization and enforce coding and integration standards.
Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to define deployment patterns (on‑prem, cloud, hybrid), performance tuning strategies, and high‑availability designs for PLM environments.
Serve as a technical escalation point for complex PLM issues, guiding development and operations teams toward sustainable resolutions.
Business Process Transformation & Product Development Enablement
Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service organizations to analyze and optimize product lifecycle processes, with a focus on digital thread and digital product definition.
Translate complex business and engineering requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions within PLM and adjacent systems.
Lead or significantly contribute to PLM transformation roadmaps, including process standardization, harmonized data models, and consistent change/configuration management practices.
Drive adoption of PLM capabilities that improve engineering efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product data quality and traceability.
Integration Architecture & Digital Thread
Architect integrations between PLM and ERP, MES, CAD, SCM, CRM, ALM, and enterprise data management platforms using APIs, middleware, integration services, and event‑driven patterns.
Define strategies for master data management (MDM) and product data governance across PLM and downstream systems, ensuring a consistent and authoritative “source of truth.”
Enable digital thread capabilities by ensuring end‑to‑end connectivity and traceability of requirements, CAD/CAE, BOM, change records, manufacturing work instructions, and service data.
Collaborate with data and analytics teams to expose PLM data for reporting, model‑based engineering, and digital twin initiatives.
