Job description

Company Introduction Codebase builds exceptional software teams for clients across. We take on our clients' biggest engineering risks — speed, quality, and the cost of hiring the wrong people — and solve them with vetted engineering talent and a custom agile process. Codebase is a great place to work at. The culture is transparent and every employee, irrespective of their position, is given a chance to be heard. We are looking for an HR Manager who can run the full employee lifecycle end to end — from the moment an offer is accepted to the moment someone moves on — and who can be a genuine partner to our delivery managers, not just a process administrator. You will own onboarding, performance management, engagement, policy, HR operations and compliance for the entire organisation. You will work directly with the leadership team on org structure, retention and people decisions, and you will partner closely with Talent Acquisition on hiring, offers and compensation. This is a hands-on generalist role in a lean team: you will design the process and also run it. Key Responsibilities: HR Operations & Lifecycle • Lead the complete employee lifecycle: onboarding, documentation, HRIS (Zoho) updates, and exit management. • Ensure strong HR compliance, policy implementation, and timely execution of organisational processes. • Drive payroll-related coordination: salary changes, deductions, reimbursements, and vendor billing. • Maintain accurate HR records, employee files, trackers, and MIS reports. • Support performance management, disciplinary procedures, and employee grievance handling. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams ( Finance, IT, Admin, Leadership ) for smooth HR operations. • Manage vendor relationships for corporate services, benefits, and office-related requirements. • Recommend process enhancements and digital solutions to strengthen HR effectiveness. • Run the appraisal cycle end to end — goal setting, mid-year check-ins, calibration with managers, ratings, increment letters and communication. • Hiring Support (as and when needed) : Step in to support recruitment as and when needed for engineering roles — MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js), React Native, Full-Stack, QA Automation (Java + Selenium, Playwright, Mobile), .NET, and Python — partnering with the TA Lead during peak hiring periods. • Build candidate pools at volume when required, using Boolean search strings on Naukri Resdex, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, and niche tech communities to reach passive candidates. • Run first-level HR screening when needed — assess project depth, stack fit, communication, notice period, and compensation expectations before roles move to technical rounds. • Coordinate technical interview panels as needed with internal Technical Managers and external Interview-as-a-Service (IaaS) partners; keep scheduling and turnaround tight. Employee Engagement & Culture • Lead employee engagement, communication initiatives, and culture-building activities. • Own the internal communication calendar — announcements, policy rollouts, celebrations, and feedback loops. • Run pulse checks and act on what they surface; keep attrition risk visible to leadership before it becomes a resignation. Employer Branding & Tech Meetups • Represent Codebase at IT and developer meetups, tech conferences, and community events in Pune along with tech. team. • Plan and organise Codebase-hosted meetups end to end — theme, speaker outreach, venue and budget, the Meetup.com page and RSVPs, on-the-day execution, and post-event follow-up. • Convert meetup attendees into a live talent community and a warm hiring pipeline. • Build the Codebase employer brand across LinkedIn, Ambition box, Glassdoor, careers content, and candidate experience — so that people know us before we call them. Requirements: • 7+ years of experience in HR operations, compliance, employee relations, and payroll coordination. • Strong understanding of HR policies, statutory requirements, and documentation standards. • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience handling employee queries and escalations. • Proficiency in HRMS/HR tools and strong process management capability. • Must handle sourcing and recruitment activities as required by the business. • Must have attended IT / developer meetups or tech community events, and be willing and able to organise them for Codebase (tech talks, hiring meetups, Meetup.com-style events). Please mention the communities or events you have been part of in your application. Nice to have: • Experience in an IT services, staffing, or product-engineering-services company (offshore / staff-augmentation model). • Exposure to US-client-facing hiring or global delivery teams. • Experience with Breezy HR or a comparable ATS. • Experience running structured interview processes — scorecards, rating trackers, calibration. • Existing network in the Pune tech ecosystem. Soft Skills • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proactive and eager to learn new technologies.
