Job description

Company Description: SkyWatch is at the forefront of revolutionizing how earth observation data is accessed and utilized globally. Our innovative platform empowers businesses, researchers, and governments to easily integrate satellite data into their operations, driving informed decision-making and unlocking new opportunities for growth and efficiency. Founded on the principle of democratizing access to space-based technology, SkyWatch provides a seamless interface that aggregates data from numerous satellite sources, offering unparalleled access and insights. Whether monitoring agriculture, managing infrastructure, or advancing scientific research, our scalable solutions cater to diverse industries with a commitment to reliability, security, and sustainability. Our Products: Our suite of applications is tailored to meet the diverse needs of users on the SkyWatch platform. Whether you are an individual purchasing data for a project, a business seeking to store and share geospatial data, a GIS specialist in need of imagery for maps or workflows, a developer looking to build innovative solutions with our API, or a data provider seeking to sell to our user network, you can do it with SkyWatch. Our Culture: Culture is the personality of a company. It is our company's shared beliefs, values, and practices. At SkyWatch, our culture is incredibly important to us, and we practice it every day. Both as a company and in our products, we value simplicity, dependability, and empathy. Let’s face it — the best jobs boil down to a handful of things: getting the chance to work with amazing people in a great culture with leaders who have your back while pursuing a vision that you can get passionate about. Please note that SkyWatch may use AI throughout various portions of the talent process. THE MISSION Own the top of the funnel and hit the number every week. You are the first growth marketer in a GTM function rebuilt around targets and instrumentation. There is no marketing department to inherit and no brand campaign to run. There is a product people already buy, a funnel that is measured every week, and a set of channels, including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, that nobody in our market has fully worked yet. Your job is to grow visitors, signups and qualified leads against a monthly target you help set and a weekly target you break down yourself. We are hiring for growth instincts and creative range, not a marketing org chart. You will do the work, use AI to do more of it than a team of three could, and deliver design, paid media and SEO yourself with the right tools. Great content that costs little to make is the core of the job. THE ROLE You own three numbers, reported at the weekly growth and pipeline review: visitors, signups and inbound marketing-qualified leads. Behind them you own the website, the content and social engine, positioning for our target verticals, launch communications for the SkyWatch platform and its product offerings, and the lifecycle program that turns a signup into an active customer. You work alongside the sales lead who closes what you generate, and with GTM Engineering, which gives you the data. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Hit the top-of-funnel targets. Visitors, signups and inbound MQLs by channel, weekly actuals against a monthly target you break into weeks. Report what moved, what you did about it, and what you learned. - Make LLMs an acquisition channel. Get SkyWatch cited when someone asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity how to buy satellite imagery. Own the content, structured data, docs and MCP-server positioning that drives that, and track citation share monthly. - Run content and social as a growth engine. A publishing cadence that earns attention in the GIS, insurance, energy, mining and state and local government communities. Imagery is visual; use it. Be original, fast and measurable. - Build an industry-leading social following. Grow SkyWatch’s audience until it leads the geospatial and commercial imagery industry, and track it monthly against our peers. - Make high-quality content affordably. Short video, imagery-led social, demos and explainers, sometimes featuring our team and customers. You make most of it yourself, with a phone, good light and AI tools, and you know what each piece cost and what it returned. - Own the website. Conversion from visitor to signup on a code-owned site, with Engineering deploying and you owning copy, structure, experiments and landing pages per vertical. - Run co-marketing with our partners. Our partners, from Esri to cloud and engineering-software platforms to the satellite operators whose data we sell, are our biggest source of leverage. Plan and run joint campaigns and programs with them, put the market development funds (MDF) they give us to work, and report what each program returns. - Product marketing for the SkyWatch platform. Positioning and messaging per persona and vertical, pricing page clarity, launch communications for new product offerings, sales enablement, and the story that ties our data, platform and products together. - Lifecycle marketing. Own the lifecycle messaging program end to end: activation nudges per offering, upgrade paths, re-engagement and renewal sequences, with frequency caps and measured lift. - Be resourceful with technology. Deliver design, paid media, SEO and the rest yourself, using AI and the right tools rather than agencies or contractors. We fund tooling case by case, and you are accountable for cost per signup. WHO YOU ARE - Target-oriented. You have carried a pipeline or signup number, know what it feels like to miss a week, and know what to change on Tuesday morning. - On the leading edge of AI in marketing. You already use LLMs and agents to research, draft, test and analyze at a pace a traditional team cannot match, and you have grown traffic or leads from AI assistants somewhere. - Creative with content and social. You have a portfolio of things people actually shared, and a point of view on why they did. You get quality out of a small budget. - Comfortable on camera and behind it. You can turn a conversation with an engineer into something a buyer will watch. - Product-minded. You can explain an API product to a developer and a data subscription to a GIS analyst, and you would rather fix the signup flow than write another campaign around it. - An operator, not a manager. You are happy being the only marketer, with AI tools and agents as your team, and you want the autonomy that comes with it. QUALIFICATIONS - 5 to 7 years in growth, demand generation or product marketing at a B2B software, data or developer-facing company, with direct ownership of signup or lead targets. - Demonstrated results growing a channel from AI assistants or answer engines, or a credible, specific plan for how you would. - Hands-on with a product analytics tool, a lifecycle messaging platform and a CMS or code-owned site. - Strong writing and a track record of content and social that performed, with numbers. - A portfolio of work you made yourself, with what each piece cost to produce and how it performed. We review it before the first call, so please include a link when you apply. - Able to be in our Kitchener office one or two days a week. Anywhere within about 90 minutes works, including the Greater Toronto Area. - Comfortable reading a funnel in a dashboard and arguing from it. - Geospatial, GIS, imagery or Esri ecosystem experience. Preferred - Experience running co-marketing or partner programs, including spending partner market development funds. Preferred - Experience marketing to state, provincial and local governments. Preferred WHAT YOU WILL BE MEASURED ON Weekly: Visitors, signups and inbound MQLs against your weekly target, by channel, read from the GTM dashboard. Monthly: Cost per signup, signup-to-activation rate per offering, social following against industry peers, and citation share for our core buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Quarterly: Inbound-sourced pipeline ARR and new subscription ARR against plan, shared with the sales lead who closes inbound. Signups and pipeline from partner programs, against the partner funds spent. Compensation Base salary plus a variable component of about 25% of on-target earnings, paid quarterly against the targets above and uncapped when you beat them. Stock options. Health benefits and hybrid work, in the office one or two days a week. Indicative on-target earnings: CA$135,000 to CA$165,000, depending on experience. Why SkyWatch - You own the funnel. A short path from idea to live, and no committee between you and the website. - The channel is wide open. Nobody in commercial imagery has won the AI-assistant channel yet. You would be the first to try seriously. - The product is real. Paying customers, a live MCP server, a storefront inside ArcGIS, and satellite data that photographs well. Accessibility at SkyWatch At SkyWatch, we believe every candidate deserves a fair and inclusive experience. If you require an accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know — we're happy to work with you to ensure your needs are met. To request an accommodation, please advise any member of the talent team or contact us at accessibility@skywatch.com.
