Job description

Overview At Microsoft, we’re building a modern, AI-forward marketing organization that learns faster, activates smarter, and drives measurable impact. Our approach blends human creativity with AI-powered insights to fuel bold, culturally inspired creative strategies at scale. We prioritize outcomes over outputs, embrace rapid learning loops, and operate in agile flight formations that unite disciplines across Commercial Brand, Creative, and Customer Marketing. The Senior Creator & Community Manager sits at the intersection of community, creators, culture, and technology. As AI transforms how people create, learn, and discover information, authentic human connection is becoming increasingly valuable. The communities people join, the creators they trust, and the experiences they participate in are shaping how new technologies are adopted and understood. At Microsoft, we have something most brands spend years trying to build: passionate communities of people who genuinely love our products. They create content, build businesses, teach others, organize events, and inspire millions through their work. The Creator & Fandom team exists to help those communities grow and thrive. You'll join the Community Team within Creator & Fandom, helping strengthen Microsoft's relationships with content creators across the ecosystem - developers, founders, startups, MVPs, and community leaders. This role is focused on identifying emerging voices, cultivating meaningful relationships, building community-driven programs, and helping technical creators become advocates of Microsoft’s products. This is not a Developer Relations role. Rather than focusing on product evangelism, this role sits within Microsoft's marketing organization and is focused on community building with developer and technical creators to drive advocacy and authentic storytelling. You'll work across Creator Strategy, Community, Creative, and Product Marketing to activate programs, events, creator partnerships, and experiences that connect Microsoft with the people shaping technology culture today. If you're energized by technical communities, internet culture, startup ecosystems, creators, live experiences, and the future of AI, you'll find a home here. At Microsoft, our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more guides how we partner with customers to deliver trusted, impactful solutions. With a growth ‑ mindset culture, we innovate responsibly and measure success by shared progress, people, teams, and customers. Join us to do meaningful work that changes the world and helps shape what's next for everyone. Responsibilities • Act as a trusted connector within the developer, startup, and technical creator ecosystem, building relationships with the people and communities shaping what's next. • Discover and support emerging technical creators, builders, and community leaders before they're obvious, helping grow the next generation of voices working with Microsoft. • Help technical creators create their best work by providing the relationships, context, support, and opportunities needed to tell meaningful stories with Microsoft technologies. • Design and operate always-on programs, activations, and community experiences that bring technical audiences together and create meaningful opportunities for connection, collaboration, and participation. • Partner across Microsoft to connect community insights, creator ecosystems, and business priorities into programs that resonate with technical audiences. • Elevate community stories and builder achievements into moments that earn attention, drive conversation, and strengthen Microsoft's presence within developer culture. • Build the measurement frameworks that help Microsoft understand community health, creator ecosystem growth, advocacy, influence, and long-term business impact. Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience • OR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Computer Science, Media, or related field AND 3+ years relevant experience in community management, creator or influencer marketing, developer ecosystems, technical audience engagement, partnerships, social media, or integrated marketing OR equivalent experience. • 8+ years of experience in community management, developer relations, advocacy or ambassador programs, or a closely related growth or marketing • Fluency with community platforms and tooling such as Discord, Reddit, forums, Circle, Bevy, Discourse, or Khoros, alongside listening, analytics, and CRM • Demonstrated track record of scaling an online community or advocacy program from recruitment and onboarding through recognition, retention, and measurable business impact. • Experience designing or running community programs, events, meetups, hackathons, workshops, ambassador programs, creator cohorts, or other audience engagement initiatives. • Experience identifying, recruiting, onboarding, and developing creators, advocates, or community members as part of a broader marketing or community strategy. • Familiarity with developer, startup, AI, open-source, creator, and internet culture, with a strong understanding of how technical audiences discover, trust, and engage with content. • Ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible, credible, and compelling content opportunities for creators, communities, and broader audiences.
