Job description

About Peregrine Peregrine Advisors is a rapidly growing AI and data innovation hub helping government solve hard problems and deliver better outcomes. We work across the full lifecycle—from strategy and governance through architecture, engineering, analytics, AI, visualization, and training—for clients including the SEC, PCAOB, DDOT, and DCAA. Our clients describe our support as “absolutely excellent” and our people as “instrumental to organization’s success.” Winner of the United Nations COP27 Datathon, our work has earned all Exceptional CPARS ratings, SEC Chair’s Awards, the SEC Vision Award, and recognition from FDA leadership. We are also built differently. Peregrine is the first and only social enterprise organized as a Benefit Corporation and SBA 8(a) company focused on AI and data for government. We believe business success should create client value, social value, and opportunity for our people. As we enter our next stage of growth, we need dependable, motivated, and skilled people who have a combination of intellectual curiosity and intellectual courage. With new clients, larger programs, and expanding responsibilities, the people joining Peregrine now will have the opportunity to help shape the company we become. People first. Ownership always. We solve problems through people, process, and technology—in that order. Technology matters, but people make transformation happen. That principle defines our culture. Trust and motivation are the foundational pillars of delivery on which our skills stand. We hire people we can trust, who care deeply about what they do, take ownership, learn quickly, help one another, and refuse to walk past a problem because it belongs to someone else. At Peregrine, you are not joining simply to fill a position. You are joining a team, taking ownership of a mission, and helping build a company. If that excites you, we should talk. This is a hybrid work arrangement based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the commuting cadence varies by assignment. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination. Your first project Your first project will likely include leading requirements and analysis for an Agile delivery team by: • consulting with product owners, customers, key stakeholders, and end users to elicit and specify requirements; • developing requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria, and facilitating product backlog refinement and prioritization; • assisting product owners in defining the product scope, vision, and roadmap; • conducting business process analysis, workflow analysis, and business process reengineering; or • providing system analysis and subject-matter expertise on issues and bugs. Adaptability and a demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts, systems, and tools are what keep you ahead of program needs as projects complete and priorities shift. The work is real, hard, and it matters. It is also where you start, not the shape of your career here: we hire people, not seats, and we move our best to where the hardest problems are. What you'll build • Requirements the build team can act on: user stories and acceptance criteria that carry business intent through to working software. • The analysis behind the hard calls: gap analyses, Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) studies, business process models, wireframes, and storyboards that give decision-makers real options. • Application designs proven against business requirements, worked side by side with product owners, program managers, developers, testers, and end users. • Product demonstrations that land: you lead them, and you support the team when it gives them. • In time, the firm itself: new capabilities, tools, and lines of business you help spin up. Who you are You translate between the people who run the business and the people who build the systems, and both sides trust the translation. You are as comfortable steering scope with a product owner as pressure-testing a design with developers, and you weigh every solution against time, budget, and cost constraints. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task. What you bring • Hands-on requirements elicitation, specification, and documentation that developers can build from without guessing. • Fluency in Agile delivery: user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, and prioritization as daily practice. • The analytical range to move from business process reengineering to system-level analysis of issues and bugs. • The precision to work where accuracy and auditability are not optional. What we offer A high-performing team of developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists solving complex, real-world problems, with work that runs from strategy formulation to hands-on implementation. We develop people across assignments and clients, with extensive onboarding and sponsored training and professional development. And Peregrine has been a Benefit Corporation from day one: public value is built into the work itself, not bolted on afterward. Work worth your best years. What we commit to As a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better. We hire people who want to help build the firm, not just work at it. If that is you, apply. Peregrine Advisors is an equal opportunity employer. Peregrine exclusively works with OPEN Data Jobs to recruit our team. Register with OPEN Data Jobs to be considered for this opening and future openings. • 7+ years of business analysis experience on information technology (IT) programs • Bachelor’s degree • Strong requirements elicitation, modeling, and documentation skills • Experience with Agile delivery and backlog management • Excellent communication with technical and business stakeholders • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel Preferred • Federal information technology experience • Financial-regulatory domain experience • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Agile Analysis certification • Familiarity with AI-assisted analysis tooling This is a full-time W-2 position with a salary of $125,000 to $135,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance with the employee premium fully paid and half of dependent premiums; employer-paid life, accidental death, and short-term and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) matched 100% up to 4% of salary, vesting immediately; unlimited paid time off; and sponsored professional certifications and continuing education.
