Job description

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For nearly two decades, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying AI/ML to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future. Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning research as well as highly experienced finance and technology professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together. In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more. ABOUT THE PROGRAM The Operations Associate Program is The Voleon Group's early-career rotational program: three six-month rotations across the firm's business functions, followed by permanent placement on a team, designed to develop the firm's next generation of leaders. We hire a small number of exceptional graduates each year and invest heavily in their development through substantive rotations, direct exposure to senior leadership, and a structured path to a permanent role. Associates learn how Voleon operates from day one and build a strong understanding of firm-specific context. We are hiring for a Summer 2027 start. This role is hybrid, with an expectation of working in our Berkeley or New York office at least three days per week. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Complete three six-month rotations across the firm's business functions, including Client Service, HR, Fund Finance, Business Strategy, Legal, Compliance, and R&D teams such as Data Strategy and PMO - Take on high-impact project work within each rotation - Work directly with senior stakeholders, including getting regular exposure to the executive team on firm priorities - Take on responsibilities that grow with demonstrated ability rather than tenure - Contribute to the program itself through leadership opportunities, recruiting, and learning and development programming HOW YOU'LL GROW - A structured learning and development curriculum that runs throughout the program: skill sessions, cross-cohort presentations, and rotation-specific training - A dedicated mentorship structure including program leads who own your development and a mentor from the class above you - A path to a permanent placement on one of Voleon's teams after your third rotation, with the program supporting the transition WHAT WE LOOK FOR - Outstanding academic record from a rigorous undergraduate program. We accept strong candidates from any major or academic focus with no finance experience required - Genuine curiosity about how a quantitative investment firm operates - Demonstrated ambition and ownership: you have built, led, or fixed something and can articulate it - Critical thinker who notices opportunities for improvement and acts on them - Comfort turning ambiguity into structure to evaluate and solve problems - Strong analytical and communication skills - Capable of managing multiple work streams with high attention to detail - Team player drawn toward a collaborative working environment REQUIREMENTS - Early-career candidates with strong academic records, including current Bachelor’s and Master’s students and recent graduates - Authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not available for this role) - Availability to begin the role in Summer 2027. - Location: This hybrid role is based in either Berkeley, CA or New York, NY, with a requirement to work in the office three days per week “FRIENDS OF VOLEON” CANDIDATE REFERRAL PROGRAM If you have a great candidate in mind for this role and would like to have the potential to earn $7,500 if your referred candidate is successfully hired and employed by The Voleon Group, please use this form voleon.com to submit your referral.
