Job description

ABOUT AIRWALLEX Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own. We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Read our operating principles airwallex.com to see it in full. DESIGN AT AIRWALLEX Design at Airwallex sits close to the centre of the product, which is exactly what makes it a team for designers who are looking for impact, not just execution. You work side by side with product and engineering from day one, challenging the brief and shaping the solution to deliver the best outcomes for our customers. Design is an equal partner in defining what gets built and how it comes together. Our designers have real access to senior leadership. The problems are complex, the standards are high, and the impact is visible at a global scale. Airwallex is growing fast, and our design team keeps pace. This is a genuinely exciting stage to be doing work that matters. If you're on the steep ramp in your career and want influence, ambitious work, and the chance to grow fast, this is a rare place to do it. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Define and drive product design vision for Spend, airwallex.com from first sketch to shipped product, in partnership with product and engineering. - Collaborate with product managers to scope design requirements, and build lean project plans that leave room for research, exploration, and testing — not just execution. - Research, understand, and advocate for user needs at every stage of product development, translating complex financial workflows into approachable experiences. - Lead end-to-end design across desktop, mobile web, and native app experiences, working closely with engineers through critical moments of the process and a smooth handoff. - Partner with cross-functional teams, including the design system team, to explore and deliver solutions that hold together as a system, not just as individual screens. - Build deep domain knowledge so you can see the big picture and connect the work happening across your team. - Contribute to product strategy, roadmap, and customer validation — and help shape the design culture and principles of the team as you go. WHO YOU ARE - Experience: 7+ years as a UX/product designer, with expertise across desktop web, mobile web, and native app experiences. - Portfolio: strong work demonstrating complex systems, multi-channel user journeys, and intricate object relationships — not just polished screens. - Skills: proficient in UX methods (generative research, information architecture, interaction design, user testing) and comfortable thinking in systems. - Communication: can articulate design rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Delivery: a proven track record of leading projects end to end in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. APPLICANT SAFETY POLICY: FRAUD AND THIRD-PARTY RECRUITERS To protect you from recruitment scams, please be aware that Airwallex will not ask for bank details, sensitive ID numbers (i.e. passport), or any form of payment during the application or interview process.
