Job description

Envoy protects the places the world relies on most by unifying people, spaces, and communications in one secure, integrated workplace management platform and ecosystem. More than 16,000 workplaces around the world trust Envoy to run secure, compliant, and connected operations across every location. From manufacturing sites and data centers to pharmaceutical labs, healthcare facilities, and corporate headquarters, Envoy makes safety, security and associated regulatory compliance something our customers can be proud of. The industry is littered with box-checking and arcane manual processes as the standard and we see our role as the company to bring experience, efficiency and simplicity everywhere. Great experiences bring great security – it's a requirement. We hope this problem space excites you and we hope you're ready to come sweat the details with us – we have a lot of customers counting on us! And it certainly won't be easy. Learn more at envoy.com envoy.com About the Role: Product management here at Envoy is the most critical role in ensuring customers and their end-users love the products they use. Every decision you make will directly impact tens of thousands of workplaces around the world and their millions of occupants, be them employees, visitors, contractors, etc. Envoy seeks to deliver next-level operational efficiency, data-drivenness, safety, and security for everyone involved, and our solutions must be highly thoughtful about this at scale. You will be responsible for this for your product or product line. This isn't an easy job, but if high stakes is your game, you'll enjoy things a lot. We are currently looking for a product leader to own and evolve a large portion of Envoy Visitors, our flagship visitor management platform used by companies all around the world. Visitors is very powerful – customers are using it to meet strict regulatory compliances in their industries. They need to do background checks to make sure people aren't from sanctioned countries, they are requiring specific OSHA trainings of their contractors, they need full audit logs of all changes over hundreds of facilities, they need to provision access control credentials for specific vendors, there's a lot going on and at scale. What you'll be working on is absolutely critical to the safety and security of their operations so thoughtfulness is critical every day. There’s a lot of surface area, a lot of different customer needs, and a lot of opportunity to make big industry-changing decisions. It's what they've been waiting for. We're currently a small and nimble product team looking to grow from leadership previously being spread throughout product design roles, product marketing, engineering management, and we even have some IC engineers running their products externally. Needless to say, we recognize this isn't going to scale, and we want to get ahead of it with your ownership and help. This brings inward opportunity too – as the product team grows, we'll need product line leaders and organizers, and we'd much rather promote from within when possible. But for now, this is an IC PM role as that's the immediate need. This is a full-time, 5-day onsite role in San Francisco (410 Townsend St). Please remember we are a workplace company. We build products for workplaces and we believe that we can only become experts in something when we surround ourselves in it! We're happy to help move you out here if necessary. We also help with visa transfers if needed. We hope this all sounds great to you so far! As a baseline, you will need - 5+ years of experience in Product Management, preferably in B2B with enterprise exposure and 0-1 product building experience - An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field In this role, you will - Meticulously own vision, roadmap, strategy, and execution of your products - Launch products and be ultimately responsible for the success/failure of the products/features based on the goals/metrics you define. - Push for quality and urgency despite constant challenges for one or the other. You need to enjoy this battle. - Be the primary switchboard and gather feedback from customers directly, our sales/success teams, and others cross-functionally to create an opinion and get things iterated, built, and launched. You must be good at rational decision-making; not everyone will always agree, yet you'll still need their support. - Be the point person to customers during beta or high-iteration periods in products. And you'll run internal dogfooding. - Story-tell internally the importance of what we're building to engineering ICs, designers, researchers and the general company, encouraging bottoms up ownership, creative thinking and internal contribution. - Own much of pricing and packaging, and you'll ensure sales training happens as you expect for your products. There is no throwing-over-the-wall allowed here. - You'll bring your existing product processes and help us all elevate our product execution. - And yes, it has to be said, roles change over time; this job description is dynamic, you need to be comfortable in an environment where things can change a lot. Your values: Every company is unique, with its own culture and community, and specific values that make things gel. There is no one general fingerprint for what makes a 'good' company or a 'bad' one, it's all dependent on your personal values and how well they map to the values of the company you're part of. It's therefore critical you and us match well together. As you explore the list below, please be real with yourself – is this the kind of environment you really want? If not "yes absolutely", it's best to not apply, trust us, you're going to have a bad time. If however, these describe you, you're going to have an amazing time here with friends you'll retain for years to come. We hope this describes you! - You have a passion for workplaces, have strong end-user intuition and demand products you yourself can proudly use daily - You thrive in ambiguous, low-guidance environments. You seek accountability and to own the success (and failure!) of everything you work on. - You have a high bar for everything you build, including the way it looks and feels, spending the time necessary to achieve quality to winning standards. Especially in Enterprise software, notorious for putting quality by the wayside. - You create and hold yourself and your team to success metrics. You are data-driven, relying on numbers to persuade versus necessarily just high-paying customer anecdotes. - You are impatient and expect things sooner than in a couple weeks, months or quarters - You have high empathy and humility and understand you're always learning. You're also aggressively a believer that everyone you work with must be this way too. - You rely on AI tooling and truly see it as a massive force multiplier and you are excited about constantly evolving yourself to best reap its benefits. You are also excited to share the AI discoveries that you're continuously making (and you expect the same of your peers too). - You believe teams being in-office are the best way to solve problems fast and build great products. - You look for all these same values from your current and future teammates and would be disappointed and even consider departing if we compromised too often. You want to be part of a like-minded team and culture. By applying for this position, you acknowledge that you have fully read and understand the job requirements and received the Envoy Privacy Notice for applicants, which is linked here envoy.com.
