Job description

ABOUT AVOCA Avoca is transforming how home service companies engage with their customers. Our AI-powered conversational agents handle every high-value inbound call, from booking jobs, qualifying leads, and driving higher revenue, all at a speed and consistency unmatched by human call centers. We're a Series B startup backed by Kleiner Perkins, Meritech Capital, General Catalyst, and other top-tier investors, with $125M raised and a $1B valuation. We grew 10x in 2025 and have scaled to 170+ employees in under two years across our NYC headquarters and Santa Barbara office. In a $1T+ market where 85% of missed calls go to competitors, we're building the category-defining platform for AI-driven customer engagement, serving the largest brands in home services. With high-energy, in-office teams in both locations, every hire here has an immediate and visible impact. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at Avoca, you’ll fuel our growth engine by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers across the home services industry. You’ll run high-velocity outbound programs, convert interest into meetings for our Account Executives. You'll help evangelize Avoca’s impact by turning missed calls into booked jobs and measurable revenue. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on speed, experimentation, and impact. You’ll own pipeline generation end-to-end: target the right segments, craft compelling outreach, book high-quality meetings, and collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product to turn customer pain into Avoca wins. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Prospect and qualify leads across home services segments, serving as the first point of contact and trusted resource for prospects evaluating Avoca. - Run high-volume, multi-channel outbound (LinkedIn, email, calls, events) to build pipeline and consistently exceed meeting and SQL targets. - Tailor outreach to customer goals and business models; articulate Avoca’s value in booking jobs, capturing missed demand, and lifting revenue. - Partner with Account Executives to schedule demos, share context, and ensure smooth handoffs that convert into opportunities and closed-won deals. - Travel to industry conferences and events to generate leads, book demos on-site, and represent Avoca with professionalism and urgency. - Conduct discovery to qualify fit, pain, and timing; map stakeholders across Operations, Marketing, and Executive teams. - Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product to refine messaging, share market feedback, and continuously improve playbooks and cadences. - Track activity and outcomes with precision; measure and report on KPIs to guide prioritization and iterate quickly. WHAT YOU'LL BRING - 1-3 years in an SDR, BDR, or outbound sales role, ideally at a high-growth startup. - A track record of hitting or exceeding outbound meeting targets, with meetings that actually convert downstream. - Confidence on the phone and in writing: you can articulate value clearly whether it's a 30-second cold call or a personalized email. - Comfort with high volume; you can run 50+ touches a day without sacrificing quality. - CRM discipline: clean data, updated stages, notes that your AEs can actually use. - Nice to have: experience selling AI, SaaS, or into the home services vertical. WHO YOU ARE - You're competitive with yourself. You track your numbers, know your conversion rates, and are always looking for the next lever to pull. - You handle rejection well, not because you ignore it, but because you treat it as signal. A "no" teaches you something about messaging, timing, or targeting. - You prepare before you pick up the phone. You've looked at the prospect's website, understand their business model, and can speak to their specific pain. - You're a clear communicator who keeps AEs, managers, and cross-functional partners in the loop without being asked. BENEFITS - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance - Company-sponsored 401(k) through Vestwell - Flexible PTO plus U.S. federal holidays - Company-wide off-sites - Daily in-office lunch through Parkday - Dinner covered when working late - Commuter benefits and late-night rideshare - Standing desks and workspace accommodations available on request - All core tools and software provided Compensation: The expected on target earnings for this role is $115,000-$125,000 with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications determined during the interview process. Avoca’s total compensation package includes base salary, bonus, equity, and a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks. Our Recruiting team will share the full details as you progress through our hiring process. WHY AVOCA At Avoca, you’ll be part of a team that’s building a category-defining company at the center of a massive market opportunity.
