Job description

Range is creating AI-powered solutions to eliminate financial complexity for our members. We’re transforming wealth management through the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and human expertise. We’re obsessed with member experience! We’ve built an integrated platform that tackles the full spectrum of financial needs–investments, taxes, retirement planning, and estate management–all unified in one intuitive system. Backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovations, and Scale Venture Partners, we're in hyper-growth mode and looking for exceptional talent to join our starting lineup. Every Ranger at this stage is shaping our culture and way of life—from former CEOs and startup founders to experts from leading hedge funds and tech companies. If you're ready to build something that truly matters in financial services, bring your talent to Range. Here, you'll make a genuine impact on how people manage their financial lives while working alongside a team that celebrates wins, makes big decisions, and blazes new trails together. ABOUT THE ROLE Range is seeking an experienced Head of Business Operations to own and execute the company's most important cross-functional initiatives as we scale. This role serves as a key execution partner to the executive leadership team, taking on the projects that are too large, too ambiguous, or too cross-cutting for any single function to carry alone. Business Operations owns a rotating portfolio of high-priority projects end-to-end. This includes scoping the problem, driving execution across teams, and handing the result off to a permanent functional owner once it's running. As Range continues to grow its technology platform and financial services capabilities, the Director of Business Operations will bring structure to ambiguity, rigor to execution, and momentum to the initiatives that most directly move the business forward. This role is based at Range's Headquarters in McLean, VA, with an in-office schedule Monday through Friday. WHAT YOU’LL DO WITH US - Own the company's highest-priority cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous problem statement to delivered outcome and clean hand-off to a permanent functional owner. - Create structure in ambiguous situations, turning vague mandates into scoped plans with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, and success metrics. - Drive execution across multiple teams without formal authority, coordinating the right people to deliver on time and to spec. - Bring analytical rigor to every initiative: using data to frame problems, evaluate options, build the business case, and measure impact. - Keep functional leads and the executive team aligned on status, risks, trade-offs, and decisions across the organization. - Establish the operating standards, templates, and playbooks that make Business Operations a repeatable, high-leverage engine as Range scales. - Partner cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Advisory, and member-facing teams to support strategic initiatives. WHAT WILL SET YOU APART - 10+ years of experience, ideally with top management consulting firm and/or business operations at a hypergrowth startup - Undergraduate degree and MBA from top-tier universities - Highly analytical, with the ability to use data to structure problems, build cases, and measure outcomes. - A demonstrated talent for creating structure in ambiguous situations where the path isn't yet defined. - Excellent project management skills and exceptional attention to detail. - A high degree of ownership and a drive to deliver outcomes, measuring success by what ships, not by activity. - Strong cross-functional influence, with the ability to mobilize teams you don't manage and keep senior stakeholders aligned. - Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with strong business judgment. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex, ambiguous problems into clear plans and crisp updates. - Experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment, and exposure to wealth management, FinTech, or another regulated financial services context, strongly preferred. COMPENSATION Base salary range: $200,000 - $300,000 This is the base salary range we expect in good faith to pay for this role at the time of posting. Where an offer lands within the range depends on the scope and complexity of work the candidate can own independently and demonstrated depth at this level. OTHER COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The range above reflects base salary only. Our offer packages also include equity in the form of stock options, so total compensation for this role will exceed the base salary range. We do not ask for or consider salary history. You are welcome to ask questions about compensation at any point in the process. BENEFITS - Health & Wellness: 100% employer-covered medical insurance for employees (75% for dependents), plus dental and vision coverage - 401(k): Retirement savings program to support your future - Paid Time Off: Dedicated time to reset and recharge plus most federal holidays - Parental Leave: Comprehensive leave policy for growing families - Meals: Select meals covered throughout the week - Fitness: Monthly movement stipend - Equity & Career Growth: Early exercise eligibility and a strong focus on professional development - Full access to cutting-edge AI tools: We cover the cost so you can experiment, build, and move faster - Annual Compensation Reviews: Salary and equity refreshes based on performance - Boomerang Program: After two years at Range, you can take time away to start your own company.
