Job description

ABOUT US: Havoc is a leader in all-domain collaborative autonomy. Its software-defined hardware approach powers military and commercial-grade autonomous systems across sea, air, and land to sense, decide, and act together in complex and contested environments. Havoc connects assets, enabling them to share information, adapt in real time, and continue operating even when communications are disrupted or denied. Havoc optimizes mission performance and minimizes human risk. Havoc was founded in 2024 and headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island. Learn more at Havoc: All-Domain Collaborative Autonomy havocai.com . About the Role We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. The role is mechanical first: you'll also work with electrical systems, but mainly through integration and interfaces. You'll support new system development, payload integration and subsystem design for our uncrewed surface vessels. You'll work closely with electrical and software engineers to deliver hardware that is robust, manufacturable and ready for the field. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in mechanical design and CAD and has taken complex mechanical systems from concept through production. You're comfortable working with electrical engineers to define interfaces, routing and packaging, without being the primary electrical designer. Key Responsibilities and Requirements - System Development & Architecture: Lead and contribute to the mechanical design and integration of new systems and payloads, including structures, enclosures, mounts and overall system packaging. Support electrical integration by defining mechanical interfaces, routing paths and mounting solutions. - Mechanical Design: Create detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies and drawings for structures, housings, brackets, mounts and mechanisms built for marine environments. - Electrical Interface Support: Work with electrical engineers to integrate wiring harnesses, connectors and electronic subsystems. Read electrical schematics as needed and own the mechanical side of cable routing, strain relief, connector mounting and environmental protection. - Integration & Testing: Take part in hardware builds, subsystem and bench testing, vehicle integration and troubleshooting to validate designs and make sure they perform reliably in real operating conditions. - Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to specify, design, build, test and integrate mechanical subsystems and electromechanical components such as actuators, motors and power distribution hardware. - Documentation: Produce and maintain accurate CAD drawings, bills of materials, interface control documents (ICDs), test results and configuration management records. - Manufacturing & Production Support: Partner with technicians and manufacturing teams to make sure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, serviceable and built for rugged marine environments. Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design and system integration - Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for modeling and drafting - Solid understanding of mechanical systems, materials, tolerances and structural design - Enough familiarity with electrical systems to support integration, such as connectors, harness routing, grounding and environmental sealing - Hands-on experience prototyping, assembling, testing and troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical systems - Experience on cross-functional engineering teams, integrating subsystems into complete platforms - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field - U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance - Able to work onsite at our North Kingstown, RI office at least 3 days per week Preferred Skills - Payload integration experience on uncrewed vehicle systems, especially maritime or aerospace platforms - Familiarity with the mechanical side of harness routing, connectorization and enclosure design - Knowledge of thermal management, sealing, vibration and shock for embedded hardware - Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and ruggedized or marine systems - Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis and field-support mindset - Experience with additive manufacturing BENEFITS: - 100% Employer paid Health Insurance - Dental and Vision Insurance for you and your families - Life Insurance (Employer Paid) - Ability to participate in the companies 401k program (Matching) - Unlimited PTO policy with an enforced 2 week minimum - Equity Package - Work / Home Office Stipend - Global Entry - 16 Week Paid Parental Leave - Monthly Health and Wellness Stipend OUR VALUES: - Innovation: We are driven to break new ground. Every day presents an opportunity to challenge the status quo, think boldly, and deliver advanced solutions that transform the future of defense technology. - Integrity: We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, ensuring transparency, accountability, and trust in all our actions and partnerships. - Mission-Driven: We are focused on achieving impactful outcomes that align with our core mission—protecting lives through innovation. - Forward-Leaning: We continuously seek out new opportunities and remain at the forefront of technological advancements. We embrace change and anticipate the challenges of tomorrow with confidence and creativity. - Ownership of All Tasks: At HavocAI, no problem is too complex or too trivial. We believe that greatness comes from tackling the hardest challenges, but also in handling the smallest, sometimes thankless, tasks with the same level of commitment and care. - Servant Leadership: We lead by serving others, whether it’s supporting our employees, partners, or the broader community.
