Job description

ABOUT US The world is electrifying. As we plug in more devices and services, we need new ways to connect to power. The traditional, one-size-fits-all utility approach, with complicated bills and frustrating customer service, no longer works. At Light, we make it easy to get affordable, renewable electricity by embedding power with the products that consumers already use, from the companies they love. Light's mission is to power a sustainable and abundant energy future for everyone. We do it by making any company able to sell electricity. With Light's utility-as-API platform, companies from automakers and solar providers to real estate and beyond can offer their own, integrated electricity plans. Imagine purchasing an electric vehicle that includes unlimited home charging, or solar panels that come bundled with any excess energy you might need from the grid. We're building the flexible future where clean energy shows up wherever customers already are. We're a Series A company based in Austin, TX. We've found meaningful traction and are now investing aggressively in growth. Join us in building the digital energy infrastructure for the next century of power. THE ROLE As one of Light’s early engineers, you’ll build a first-of-a-kind product from the ground up. You’ll play a direct role in architecting and implementing the foundations of our platform, from our core developer API and embedded UI components to grid-facing systems like load forecasting and and behind-the-meter control. As one of the early members of the team, you’ll help define our culture, making Light a place people come not just for the mission, but work alongside others they admire and enjoy. YOU WOULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS HAVING: - 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions. - A high degree of product ownership, driven by objectives and outcomes, not just tasks. - Experience building robust and elegant solutions to complex problems with an understanding of what it takes to be a technical leader on significant projects. - Attention to detail and ability to execute autonomously. - Versatility in working across the stack and adaptability to evolving product needs. - Experience working at an early-stage startup is a strong plus. - The ability to work in person in Austin, TX with the founders and rest of the engineering team.
