This is an hybrid/full-time/direct hire position Salary range depending on experience: $100-$120k The Role We're hiring our first dedicated Marketing and Go-to-Market leader. This is not a single-brand CMO job. You'll own marketing and GTM strategy across a portfolio of early-stage ventures at different stages of life: some pre-launch and in validation, some launching, and some scaling. One week you might be designing a consumer subscription launch funnel; the next you might be sharpening positioning for a B2B pitch to a bank or building a demand-gen engine for a vertical SaaS product. The emphasis of this role is consumer. Most of the growth opportunities in our pipeline are consumer-facing: e-commerce and subscription commerce, consumer marketplaces, mobile apps, and consumer fintech experiences. You should be genuinely excellent at consumer growth (performance marketing, brand, lifecycle, retention) while being fully capable of running B2B GTM motions (positioning, sales enablement, ABM, partner marketing) when a venture calls for it. What You'll Do • Own GTM strategy for new ventures: market positioning, ICP definition, messaging, pricing input, channel strategy, and launch plans • Build and run consumer acquisition engines: paid social, paid search, SEO/content, influencer and affiliate, email/SMS lifecycle, and referral loops • Design and execute launch campaigns for new products, from pre-launch waitlists through post-launch growth • Own brand development for portfolio companies: naming input, voice, visual identity direction, and creative briefs (working with internal and external creative resources) • Stand up marketing analytics and reporting: CAC, LTV, conversion funnels, cohort retention, channel attribution, and payback periods, with clear dashboards for each venture • Run B2B GTM motions where needed: sales narratives and decks, outbound sequences, case studies, event and partner marketing, and enterprise buyer positioning • Validate demand for new venture concepts: landing page tests, smoke tests, ad-based signal testing, and customer discovery support • Use AI tools aggressively across the marketing stack for content, creative, analytics, and automation; we expect leverage, not headcount • Build the marketing playbook for the studio so each new venture launches faster and smarter than the last • Hire and manage contractors, agencies, and (over time) marketing team members within portfolio companies What We're Looking For • 7+ years in marketing/growth roles, with meaningful time as the owner of results, not just a contributor • Proven consumer growth track record: you've acquired customers at scale for a DTC, e-commerce, marketplace, app, or consumer fintech product, and you can talk specifics (channels, budgets, CAC/LTV, what worked, what didn't) • Real B2B experience: you've built or run at least one B2B GTM motion (demand gen, product marketing, or sales-led GTM) and understand how it differs from consumer • Full-stack capability: strategy through execution. You can write the brief, build the campaign, read the dashboard, and adjust; early on, you'll be doing the work yourself • Strong analytical foundation: fluent in funnel math, unit economics, attribution, and experimentation • Zero-to-one experience: you've launched something new (a company, product, or brand) and know how to find signal before there's data • Hands-on with the modern stack: ad platforms, marketing automation/CRM, analytics tools, CMS/landing page builders, and current AI tools • Comfort with ambiguity and context-switching across multiple businesses, categories, and audiences • Strong writing and storytelling; you can make a product's case to a consumer in a headline and to an enterprise buyer in a deck Nice to Have • Experience in a venture studio, incubator, agency, or multi-brand environment • E-commerce/retention marketing depth (subscription, replenishment, seasonal commerce) • Fintech, healthcare, or regulated-industry marketing experience • Buffalo/Western New York ties or a desire to build here Why This Role Is Different • Portfolio, not silo: you'll touch multiple companies and categories instead of grinding on one funnel for years • Real ownership: you'll define how marketing works at the studio and inside every company we launch • AI-native by design: we build with the newest tools and expect you to as well; this is a place to get ahead of where marketing is going, not defend where it's been • Mission with stakes: Our client exists to create companies and economic impact in Buffalo; the work compounds beyond any single P&L Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are an equal-opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or employment against any individual on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, ancestry, religion, physical or mental disability, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, citizenship, or any other factor protected by anti-discrimination laws.
