Job description
About ZURU
ZURU is a reimagination company. We look for categories that have stood still, then we build next-generation products and brands that set the new standard. ZURU Toys is reimagining play. ZURU Edge is reinventing everyday consumer brands. Rhodes Pet Science is reimagining pet science. ZURU Tech is leading the next building revolution.
ZURU started in 2003 with two brothers from New Zealand, and we're still founder-owned and operated today. Since then we've become the world's second-biggest privately held toy company, and nearly half of all Gen Y and Gen Z households with kids in the US own a ZURU product. Today we're 5,000 people in 34 offices, selling into more than 150 markets, backed by over 100 acres of fully automated manufacturing. And we're only getting started.
Position Overview -
The Senior Account Manager leads ZURU's high-growth partnership with Target, owning strategy and execution across the largest desk in the ZURU business as well as guiding new brands in emerging categories. The role brings full P&L responsibility and ownership. The role translates insight into action - shaping assortments, leading negotiations, and scaling winning brands. Past holders of this role have led the launch and early growth of brands like Millie Moon, BONKERS and Gumi Yum. This role will manage a balance of strong, inherited existing brands, but with a robust pipe of new brands coming across these spaces. As the primary commercial partner to the Target buying team, the KAM operates with an owner's mindset, where initiative, accountability, and impact matter.
Position Impact
In the short term, the SKAM drives immediate growth by executing on existing momentum, brand launches, and growth plans — through strong execution of retail strategies, merchant relationships, and promotional planning that expands space both in and out of aisle. In the longer term, by building a data-driven partnership with retail partners, the SKAM positions ZURU as a category leader, driving sustainable growth and brand equity through strategic planning, NPD-guided innovation, and staying ahead of retail trends.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Financial ownership – Drive and exceed all key sales targets and performance metrics for Target in designated remit.
· Strategic relationship management – Maintain close collaboration and overcommunication with retailer partners, co-developing category strategies that drive mutual growth.
· Category leadership – Serve as a trusted category expert, providing data-driven insights to retailer partners to shape category direction and position ZURU as a key growth driver.
· Cross-functional leadership – Champion business and category needs across internal teams, including NPD, Supply Chain, and Marketing, ensuring alignment and execution excellence.
· Supply & demand optimisation – Partner with Demand Planning to exceed customer service level expectations while streamlining supply chain operations for maximum efficiency and in-stock availability.
Skills & Experience
· Strong knowledge of syndicated retail data — Nielsen NIQ, Numerator, Target POL.
· Direct experience managing Target relationships in an account management role (other major retail account experience considered, Target experience a significant preference).
· Full P&L ownership and commercial negotiation experience with national retail accounts.
· Experience working across competitive categories and in nuanced inter-channel dynamics. Candidates need to be able to think beyond the scope of their account to total business impacts and trade-offs.
· Internal selling and stakeholder management, working to support with context and insights to other experts across functions.
· Strong track record of growing account scope, revenue, or responsibility in a previous role.
· 4-year college degree preferred, or equivalent account/category management experience.
Who thrives at ZURU
This isn't a 9-to-5. We move fast, think big and set goals most companies would call impossible, then go after them. The people who thrive here are entrepreneurs at heart. They own their work, chase bold ideas and never stop raising the bar.
At ZURU, you drive your career, and we give you the platform to take it as far as you can. There are opportunities here that you won’t find anywhere else, and you'll be surrounded by talented people who make things happen. We're a true meritocracy: we reward impact, not tenure.
How we work
Big ideas happen when great people work side by side, so we're office-first by design. Being together means faster collaboration, sharper decisions and stronger teams, and it's where the real learning happens. Some flexibility may be available depending on the role, location and business needs, but most roles are office-based.
