Job description

ABOUT AVOCA Avoca is transforming how home service companies engage with their customers. Our AI-powered conversational agents handle every high-value inbound call, from booking jobs, qualifying leads, and driving higher revenue, all at a speed and consistency unmatched by human call centers. We're a Series B startup backed by Kleiner Perkins, Meritech Capital, General Catalyst, and other top-tier investors, with $125M raised and a $1B valuation. We grew 10x in 2025 and have scaled to 170+ employees in under two years across our NYC headquarters and Santa Barbara office. In a $1T+ market where 85% of missed calls go to competitors, we're building the category-defining platform for AI-driven customer engagement, serving the largest brands in home services. With high-energy, in-office teams in both locations, every hire here has an immediate and visible impact. THE ROLE We're looking for a Technical Recruiter to own full-cycle hiring for our Engineering and Product teams. You'll partner directly with hiring managers and leadership to build the technical bench that powers Avoca's next stage of growth. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role at a company scaling fast — you'll help define our technical hiring bar, build repeatable processes from the ground up, and close candidates in a competitive market. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles (software engineering and technical product roles) from sourcing through offer close. - Partner closely with engineering leaders and hiring managers to define role requirements, calibrate interview loops, and build scorecards. - Proactively source and build pipelines of top-tier technical talent through outbound sourcing, referrals, and creative channels — not just inbound applicants. - Act as a trusted advisor to candidates, clearly articulating Avoca's mission, momentum, and opportunity to win top talent against competing offers. - Drive a fast, high-quality candidate experience end-to-end, including screening, coordinating interviews, and managing offer negotiations. - Build and refine scalable recruiting processes, tools, and metrics as Avoca continues to grow headcount rapidly. - Use data to track pipeline health, funnel conversion, and time-to-fill, and adjust strategy accordingly. - Represent Avoca's employer brand across sourcing channels, networking events, and the broader technical community. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience - ideally at high-growth startups. - Proven track record hiring software engineers, ML/AI talent, or similar technical roles at a fast-scaling company. - Strong sourcing chops — you know how to find and engage passive candidates, not just manage inbound. - Excellent judgment in assessing technical talent and partnering with engineering leaders on hiring decisions. - A sense of urgency and ownership; you thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. - Sharp communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to sell candidates on Avoca's mission and trajectory. - Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and building process where none exists yet. - A bias toward action and in-person collaboration — this is an in-office role at our NYC headquarters. - Familiarity with modern sourcing and ATS tooling (e.g., Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, Juicebox). BENEFITS - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance - Company-sponsored 401(k) through Vestwell - Flexible PTO plus U.S. federal holidays - Company-wide off-sites - Monthly wellness stipend - Daily in-office lunch through Parkday - Dinner covered when working late - Commuter benefits and late-night rideshare - Standing desks and workspace accommodations available on request - All core tools and software provided Compensation: The expected base salary for this role is $130,000 - $190,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Avoca's total compensation package includes base salary, bonus, equity, and a comprehensive suite of benefits. Our Recruiting team will share full details as you progress through the process. WHY AVOCA At Avoca, you’ll be part of a team that’s building a category-defining company at the center of a massive market opportunity. We’re a fast-moving, collaborative team with a culture designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and impact. Avoca provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.
