You possess impeccable news judgment and have extensive experience creating and editing a wide range of types of information graphics. You operate with autonomy to proactively identify new opportunities to extend the reach of our journalism. Responsibilities : Conceptualize and execute unified visual styles that can effectively translate complex data, maps and diagrams into digestible, high-impact visual assets to fit a variety of formats. Produce and edit news graphics under tight deadlines during breaking news environments. Guide and edit the work of other visual journalists who translate interactives, spatial models and breaking news graphics into these formats. Expertly and independently carry out all aspects of visual production, serving as the primary leader of all off-platform displays. Work with the Social Visuals and Audience teams to direct the packaging of graphics journalism off-platform. Maintain strong relationships and coordinate across other multidisciplinary desks (Graphics, Design, Video and the Print Hub) to track projects and establish publishing workflows. Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. You will report to a deputy graphics editor. Basic Qualifications : 8+ years of professional experience producing and editing visual journalism or multimedia graphics at a major news organization. Deep familiarity with visual storytelling devices, including a strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on execution of maps, charts, diagrams, 3-D modeling or motion graphics. Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects) and Figma. Experience with creating, editing or art directing graphics for a print publication. Strong writing and editing skills and experience synthesizing complex information and work on strict deadlines. Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with reading and editing code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
