About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a well funded, venture backed developer infrastructure startup that's redefining observability for modern engineering teams. With strong product market fit, rapid customer growth, and a leadership team with multiple successful startup exits, the company is building developer tools that help engineering organizations improve application performance, reliability, and user experience at scale.
They're looking for a Senior iOS SDK Engineer to join their growing mobile platform team. In this role, you'll build and maintain high performance Swift SDKs that power telemetry, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and instrumentation across Apple's platforms. If you enjoy working close to the operating system, solving complex runtime challenges, and building tools used by thousands of developers, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful technical impact.
What You'll Do
• Design, build, and maintain a modular Swift SDK used across Apple's platforms.
• Develop instrumentation libraries for performance monitoring, telemetry collection, crash reporting, and hang detection.
• Build reliable data pipelines for offline storage, batching, retry logic, and efficient data delivery under mobile runtime constraints.
• Design clean, stable APIs with long term compatibility and maintainability in mind.
• Investigate and resolve complex issues involving threading, memory management, application lifecycle, and device or OS specific behavior.
• Optimize SDK performance for startup time, binary size, memory usage, and thread safety.
• Work closely with cross platform SDK teams to ensure compatibility across multiple frameworks.
• Contribute to SDK architecture, technical direction, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with Product and Customer Success to incorporate developer feedback into future SDK improvements.
What We're Looking For
• Professional experience building SDKs, frameworks, or developer libraries used by external developers.
• Strong expertise with Swift and the Apple development ecosystem.
• Deep understanding of runtime behavior, memory management, multithreading, application lifecycle, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing clean, maintainable APIs.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across multiple devices and operating system versions.
• Familiarity with binary compatibility and long term SDK evolution.
• Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast moving engineering environment.
• Interest in leveraging AI assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
Nice to Have
• Experience with observability, telemetry, or distributed tracing.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry concepts.
• Experience supporting multiple Apple platforms from a shared codebase.
• Knowledge of system frameworks such as MetricKit.
• Experience with Swift Macros or SwiftSyntax.
• Experience working alongside React Native, Flutter, or Unity SDKs.
• Open source contributions.
• Experience supporting external developers or SDK customers.
