Job description

💡 ABOUT ARCH Arch powers frontline industries with cutting-edge AI. The US $800 billion frontline-services sector underpins the nation, yet many of these critical businesses still rely on spreadsheets, outdated software, and paper forms. We’re driving energy resilience, economic strength, and long-term prosperity by bringing cutting-edge AI to the frontline services that need it most. We’re backed by Coatue, Floodgate, Gigascale, ReGen, MCJ Collective, and the founders of Aurora Solar. Competitive salary + significant equity package based on experience. 🎒 Role Overview: We're hiring a Software Engineer to join our tight-knit engineering team of four. In this high-impact and fast-paced role, you'll collaborate directly with our founders to build products at the cutting edge of technology and sustainability. This role requires in-person collaboration 3-4 days per week at our San Francisco office (WeWork or office on Union Square). If you’re motivated by solving challenging problems, have a passion for elegant code, and want your work to have a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you. 🏃 What You'll Do: - Build and enhance core product features, from backend logic to intuitive user interfaces. - Own your work end-to-end, from concept through deployment. - Collaborate closely with our founders and engineering team to define and execute our technical roadmap. - Experiment and innovate with new technologies, particularly in AI/ML, to enhance our offerings. 📚 Qualifications: Must-haves: - Startup Experience: 5+ years software engineering experience in a fast-paced startup environment. - Technical Stack: Proficiency in TypeScript (our stack includes Node.js, Next.js, PostgreSQL). - Engineering Excellence: A passion for crafting clean, elegant solutions to complex problems. - ML experience: Exposure to classic ML workflows (even through side projects): data cleaning, model training, and iteration. Strong Bonuses: - Experience handling large-scale datasets—we deal with billions of records and focus heavily on query performance. - Familiarity with leading-edge AI productivity tools (Cursor, Windsurf, MCP, etc.). 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who You'll Work With: Philipp (Co-Founder & CEO) - Hi, I’m Phil! 👋 Raised on a small strawberry farm in Bavaria, Germany, I'm passionate about sports, hiking, and exploring meditation and biohacking. Before founding Arch, I earned an MBA and Master’s in Environmental Science from Stanford, led global solar projects with 180+ employees, and was a management consultant at McKinsey, helping software companies scale. Ask me about my favorite cafes and brunch spots in SF! Sacha (Co-Founder & CTO) - Hi, I'm Sacha! Originally from Belgium, I discovered my passion for climate tech after experiencing devastating fire seasons in Australia and California. With a dual M.Sc. in Engineering and Management, I thrive at the intersection of engineering, design, and strategy. My entrepreneurial journey includes both early failures (a Tinder-like app ahead of its time) and successes (a YC-backed company with 40+ employees). Previously, I built AI tools enabling first responders to rapidly identify fire ignition zones, directly influencing my path to founding Arch. Interviews start the week of March 31st. 🌱 Ready to Make an Impact? If this sounds like you, we'd love to connect. Apply now and join us on a bold mission!
