About ZURU
ZURU is a reimagination company. We look for categories that have stood still, then we build next-generation products and brands that set the new standard. ZURU Toys is reimagining play. ZURU Edge is reinventing everyday consumer brands. Rhodes Pet Science is reimagining pet science. ZURU Tech is leading the next building revolution.
ZURU started in 2003 with two brothers from New Zealand, and we're still founder-owned and operated today. Since then we've become the world's second-biggest privately held toy company, and nearly half of all Gen Y and Gen Z households with kids in the US own a ZURU product. Today we're 5,000 people in 34 offices, selling into more than 150 markets, backed by over 100 acres of fully automated manufacturing. And we're only getting started.
Position Overview:
ZURU is looking for a commercially minded Key Account Manager to help shift the needle on one of the fastest-growing businesses in US beauty retail.
This is your chance to help drive some of ZURU's fastest-growing, most exciting and disruptive beauty brands, including MONDAY Haircare, DAISE, BEING INC, TRUE INC. As a ZURU team member, you'll own a significant portion of this fast-growing portfolio, partnering cross-functionally to develop category strategies, deliver profitable growth, and execute best-in-class customer plans with a relentless bias for action.
You'll thrive here if you love solving complex business problems, move fast in an ever-changing environment, and pair big-picture strategy with an obsession for the details, working out how to win before you enter the arena and chasing compounding improvement in everything you do. Above all, you're a good human who raises the bar for the team around you.
Position Impact:
You'll own and grow a significant portion of ZURU's beauty business with a major US retailer — delivering against sales, profit, market share, and distribution objectives. You'll translate commercial strategy into actionable customer plans, build trusted partnerships with buyers, and hunt relentlessly for insights that drive decisions.
At 6 months, you'll have a deep understanding of your account, a clear customer business plan in motion, and strong cross-functional relationships in place. At 12 months, you'll be driving compounding improvement across your portfolio — independently fixing complex challenges, protecting business performance, and contributing to ZURU's long-term ambition of becoming a leading supplier in US beauty retail.
Who you are:
A commercially sharp account manager with 4+ years in beauty, CPG, or FMCG, experienced with large retail customers. You build financial models as comfortably as you build relationships. You overprepare to win, anticipate risks before they land, and bring an ownership mindset to everything you do. You don't wait to be told — you move.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Ownership
- Own a significant portion of the business including sales, profit, and market share performance.
- Develop annual customer business plans and identify opportunities to accelerate growth.
- Deliver financial targets across sales, margin, distribution, and inventory health.
- Build compelling commercial recommendations grounded in data and customer insight.
Customer Leadership
- Build trusted relationships with the retailer's buying, replenishment, and cross-functional teams.
- Lead customer meetings independently and communicate with confidence.
- Influence customer decisions through clear, fact-based selling stories.
- Identify opportunities to improve assortment, pricing, promotion, and omnichannel execution.
Strategic Planning
- Analyze beauty category trends, shopper behavior, and competitive activity.
- Translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Evaluate promotional opportunities, modular changes, and new item launches.
- Develop long-term growth strategies for both existing and emerging beauty brands.
Financial & Analytical Leadership
- Own forecasting and demand planning inputs.
- Build robust financial models to evaluate commercial opportunities.
- Analyze P&L impacts of pricing, funding, promotions, and assortment decisions.
- Monitor key performance metrics and proactively identify risks and opportunities.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Category & Insights, Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Demand Planning, and Product Development to ensure seamless execution across the business.
What You Bring:
Commercial thinking — business acumen, financial analysis, strategic planning, customer influence, negotiation
Analytical — data interpretation, forecasting, financial modelling, problem solving, prioritization
Leadership — ownership mindset, bias for action, accountability, curiosity, continuous improvement
Communication — executive storytelling, presentation skills, cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years in Sales, Category Management, Customer Business Development, Commercial Strategy, or related beauty/CPG functions
- Experience managing large retail customers — big-box retail strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and financial acumen
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to interpret data and convert insights into business actions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Big-box or club-channel retail experience
- Experience in beauty, FMCG, or Consumer Packaged Goods
- Experience managing customer P&Ls
- Experience with major retailer data and analytics platforms
Who thrives at ZURU
This isn't a 9-to-5. We move fast, think big and set goals most companies would call impossible, then go after them. The people who thrive here are entrepreneurs at heart. They own their work, chase bold ideas and never stop raising the bar.
At ZURU, you drive your career, and we give you the platform to take it as far as you can. There are opportunities here that you won’t find anywhere else, and you'll be surrounded by talented people who make things happen. We're a true meritocracy: we reward impact, not tenure.
How we work
Big ideas happen when great people work side by side, so we're office-first by design. Being together means faster collaboration, sharper decisions and stronger teams, and it's where the real learning happens. Some flexibility may be available depending on the role, location and business needs, but most roles are office-based.
