Job description

About Hamilton Beach Hamilton Beach Brands is a leading designer, marketer, and distributor of innovative household and commercial appliances trusted by consumers around the world. Founded in 1910 and headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia, we develop and market a broad portfolio of products under well-known brands including Hamilton Beach®, Weston®, Lotus®, and Hamilton Beach Professional® . For more than a century, our products have helped simplify everyday life – from preparing meals and beverages at home to supporting foodservice professionals in restaurants, hotels, and commercial kitchens. Our culture is guided by a shared set of values that shape how we work and make decisions every day: Customer Obsession, People, Good Thinking, Ethics, Passion for Quality, Embrace Change, Teamwork, and commitment to Our Environment and Community. At Hamilton Beach Brands, we look for people who are collaborative, curious, and motivated to make meaningful impact. About the Role: Are you a wordsmith who thrives at the intersection of traditional print and cutting-edge digital discoverability? Hamilton Beach Brands is seeking an Editor/Copywriter to lead the strategy, creation, editing and proofreading of our direct-to-consumer and direct-to-market content. In this hybrid role, you will balance physical collateral needs with modern digital strategy. A majority of your time will be dedicated to writing compelling packaging and product launch kit content, while the remaining work will focus on strategic digital copy. While this role is heavily anchored in packaging, we are looking for a candidate highly competent in digital optimization—someone with strong AI literacy, a deep understanding of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and extensive knowledge and experience in modern search best practices. You will help ensure our products maximize AI discoverability and engagement across all brand websites and retail channels. Salary Range: $67,900.00 To $82,450.00 Annually What You Will Do: • Packaging & Product Launch Kits (primary): Lead the copy strategy and creation for product launch kits and physical packaging collateral. You will translate complex product specs into high-converting copy that maximizes sell-through on physical shelves and major e-commerce storefronts (such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target). You will seamlessly write messaging across all brand tiers, maintaining distinct voices for Hamilton Beach, CHI, Clorox Home Appliance, Lotus, and HealthBeacon. • AI Search Strategy & Strategic Digital Writing (secondary): Leverage your strong AI literacy and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) expertise to structure and optimize digital channel copy. You will craft high-converting content for digital tiles, digital campaigns, social media posts, web copy and video scripts designed for maximum AI and modern search engine discoverability. • Editorial Authority & Compliance: Serve as the final gatekeeper for tone, grammar, and house style across all packaging and digital collateral. You will enforce strict trademark compliance, collaborate with Legal to ensure product claim accuracy, and guarantee 100% error-free output to prevent legal risks and costly reprints. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with our in-house Creative, Digital Content, Digital Marketing, and Legal teams. You will help manage project traffic, maintain workflow timelines, and ensure unified execution across all retail and digital channels. What We’re Looking For: • Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Communications (or related) with 3+ years of professional copywriting, editing and content strategy experience preferred in the Consumer/Home goods sector. • Packaging & E-Commerce Pro: Hands-on experience writing packaging collateral and structuring product listings for major e-commerce platforms. • Digital & AI Literate: Demonstrated understanding of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), modern search engine best practices, and AI-driven discoverability. • Brand Chameleon: Exceptional skill in adapting and protecting distinct brand voices across a broad portfolio of parent brands and sub-brand collections. • Meticulous Editor: Expert-level editing and proofreading capabilities with strict attention to detail regarding house style guides (AP/Chicago), trademark enforcement, and legally substantiated claims. • Tech Savvy: Experience with Apple computers and Adobe Creative Suite/InDesign software. Typing skills of 50-100 WPM are required. Physical/Environmental Requirements: • Standard indoor corporate office and remote/hybrid home office environment. • Stationary work at a desk utilizing Apple/Mac computer workstations and screen-based software. • Visual acuity required for proofreading digital assets, checking typography, reviewing high-resolution print/packaging proofs, and auditing fine text for compliance.
