Job description

ABOUT US Sydecar is on a mission to transform the world of private markets. Our goal is to make these markets more accessible, transparent, and liquid, and we're achieving this by revolutionizing the way investment vehicles are created and executed. At Sydecar, we're not just a platform; we're a trusted partner in venture capital. We're dedicated to simplifying and standardizing the private investing experience, empowering capital allocators to discover and support visionary entrepreneurs who are shaping the future. Our platform is designed with ease and efficiency in mind. We take care of all the behind-the-scenes tasks, from automating banking, ensuring compliance, handling contracts, managing taxes, to streamlining reporting. This leaves investors the freedom to concentrate on what matters most: making valuable deals and nurturing meaningful relationships. Join us at Sydecar, as we lead the charge in revolutionizing private investing. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to build, coach, and lead our BDR team. In this player-coach role, you will own top-of-funnel pipeline generation for our sales team: developing and hiring BDRs, designing and running inbound and outbound campaigns in partnership with our marketing team, and setting the processes and metrics that turn leads into qualified meetings. You will work directly with sales leadership to scale how Sydecar reaches emerging fund managers, independent venture managers, and other capital allocators, while still engaging high-priority prospects yourself. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has excelled as a BDR, loves developing others, and wants to build and lead a team at a fast-growing fintech. This is a hybrid role based in New York City with in-office attendance of three days per week. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING - Lead, coach, and develop a team of BDRs through regular 1:1s, call and email reviews, and ongoing training on our products. - Own the BDR team's pipeline targets, including meetings set, qualified opportunities, and conversion to closed deals, and hold the team accountable to clear weekly KPIs. - Partner with marketing and sales leadership to design, launch, and measure inbound and outbound campaigns targeting emerging fund managers, independent venture managers, syndicate leads, and other capital allocators. - Refine lead qualification criteria, and handoff processes with our Account Executives to improve speed-to-lead and conversion rates. - Build and maintain the BDR playbook, including messaging, sequences, objection handling, and onboarding materials for new team members. - Ensure accurate, up-to-date records in our CRM system (Hubspot) and build reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into funnel performance. - Analyze funnel data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities, and share regular updates and recommendations with sales leadership. - Help recruit, interview, and onboard new BDRs as the team grows. - Maintain a personal pipeline goal, engaging high-priority prospects and modeling best practices for the team. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. - 3-5 years of experience in sales or business development, including at least 1-2 years as a top-performing BDR/SDR with a track record of exceeding pipeline and quota targets. - Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring reps, whether as a formal manager or an informal team lead. - Experience building sales processes, playbooks, and campaigns, and using data to make decisions and coach reps. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. - Highly organized, with the ability to balance team leadership and individual contributions. - Advanced proficiency with CRM software (i.e., HubSpot) and sales enrichment tools (i.e. Clay) - Working knowledge of AI tools and experience incorporating them into daily workflows to drive efficiency and revenue growth. BONUS IF YOU HAVE - Experience selling in financial services, alternative investments, or fintech. - Experience at a startup, especially building and scaling a sales team from an early stage as well as building new outbound motions. - Experience in fund administration or have sold to fund managers, VCs, or other capital allocators. - Knowledgeable and passionate about venture capital and/or private markets. SYDECAR’S VALUES Our values are important to the way we live and work at Sydecar. They guide our priorities, behaviors and interactions. Be Committed As a team, we rise to meet challenges and recognize that we become stronger and develop character when facing adversity. Be Excellent We measure our success not just by what we achieve, but by how we achieve it—through integrity, creativity, elegance, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Excellence is not just doing things well—it's looking for ways to do them better. Be Humble Humility is our key to personal and professional growth. We appreciate that great ideas can come from anywhere, regardless of seniority, pedigree, or experience. We care more about collective outcomes than who gets credit or who does what. We try to not let our ego cloud our judgment. Win Together Winning is no accident. It is the result of collective hard work, perseverance, sacrifice, and most of all, loving what we do. Winning requires that we give extra—sometimes winning calls for late nights or extra effort, and we show up for clients and each other with urgency and heart. While excellence is a journey, winning is a destination.
