Job description
Our mission: e liminating every barrier to mental health.
Spring Health is a global mental health company on a mission to eliminate every barrier to mental health. We're building a world where getting support is simple, personal, and built around the person, so care can continue through every job, move, health plan, and life stage. Our AI-native platform helps us deliver personalized support across self-guided tools, coaching, therapy, medication management, and specialty care. With outcomes independently validated by JAMA Network Open and the Validation Institute, Spring Health reaches more than 170 million people worldwide through leading employers, health plans, and partners. As an AI-native company, we believe technology should expand the reach, quality, and humanity of care. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission. We’re hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join our high-performing Advanced Analytics team, embedded within the Care group. Reporting to the Manager, Data Science, this role will lead technical innovation to drive engagement and adoption of Spring Practice - Spring Health’s core care coordination and provider platform - leveraging diverse and novel data sources in close partnership with product, design, and engineering. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguity, bring strong analytical expertise, and drive rapid experimentation to surface actionable strategies that improve member and provider experience, care coordination efficiency, and health outcomes. This is a full-time, remote position on our team. Occasional travel may be required for company or team events/meetings.
What you’ll do:
Lead analytical strategy for Care: Own the end-to-end analytical strategy to improve engagement and outcomes across Spring Practice. You will develop and apply advanced methods, including AI, predictive modeling, classification, and clustering, to identify opportunities to improve member scheduling, provider matching, and care coordination workflows. Your work will directly influence product strategy, de-risk new initiatives, and drive measurable business outcomes.
Drive rapid experimentation and outreach: Design and execute a rapid experimentation roadmap to test, validate, and scale improvements to member and provider workflows within Spring Practice. Some projects will require quasi-experimental approaches to measuring impact. You will consult on test design and, at times, analyze results to provide clear recommendations on which initiatives to pursue, shaping the core of the pod’s data-driven approach.
Act as an embedded technical leader: Serve as a dedicated data scientist within the Care pod, partnering closely with product management and design to influence the team's roadmap, define success metrics, and ensure strategic decisions are grounded in rigorous analysis.
Leverage diverse and complex data: Work with large, multi-source datasets to perform feature engineering and uncover novel insights. This will involve both formal analysis and "scrappy" data sourcing to quickly answer critical business questions. You will coordinate closely with a partnered Analytic Engineer and Data Analyst embedded with Care.
What success looks like:
Incremental increase to Spring Practice engagement and utilization
Improvement in member and provider workflow efficiency (e.g. scheduling, care coordination)Achieving quarterly experiment velocity goals
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of professional data science experience
Hands-on experience with experimentation, hypothesis testing, and quasi-experimental methods.
Proficiency with SQL and Python
Experience with data modeling via dbt or similar tools
Experience working with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Omni, Hex)
Experience with product development and the software development lifecycle
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to guide and make recommendations to business partners
Proven ability to incorporate AI as a tool to solve complex business problems; including experience with prompt engineering for LLMs, using AI for code optimization and documentation, and establishing best practices for using these tools across teams.
Proven ability to proactively manage your own priorities and dependencies in alignment with cross-functional dependencies and business impact in a fast-paced environment
Proven success at navigating ambiguous problem areas and learning new approaches
Willingness to travel (at least 2 times per year) for collaborative sessions and summits with the team
