Job description

Join the Future of Robotic Biomanufacturing! Multiply Labs is a robotics company on a mission to solve a significant bottleneck in modern medicine: the manufacturing of life-saving advanced biologics, from gene and cell therapies to antibodies and more. Today, these therapies are produced through manual, labor-intensive processes. Costs are extremely high—often $500K–$2M per patient—limiting access to only a small fraction of those who need them. As product complexity increases and the cost of failure and scientific labor rises, the industry is shifting toward automation. Robotics and AI are making automated biologics manufacturing feasible, reliable, and economically scalable. We believe the future of biomanufacturing is robotic—closed, automated, and scalable—ensuring critical therapeutics are accessible to every patient who needs them. Why This Matters We don’t just build robots—we’re building the essential infrastructure for next generation biologics. Our technology enables biopharma companies to scale production without redesigning their science, reducing regulatory hurdles and lowering costs so these treatments can reach more patients. The Stack & The Scale The Mission: Build the world’s best robots to make life-saving therapies accessible to all. The Technology: Advanced robotic orchestration, high-precision automation, cloud-integrated hardware-software systems, dextrous manipulation, and imitation learning. The Location: Headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The Backing: Supported by premier investors, including Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. To learn more and to view a video of our robots in action, visit us at www.multiplylabs.com and follow us on LinkedIn . About The Role Our robots run in customer cleanrooms, on compute we deploy and maintain, under GMP rules that require every software change to be traceable. We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to be the first dedicated owner of infrastructure across our software org, from the cloud services behind our product to the software running on robots at customer sites. This is a design role first: we want someone who has built systems that had to work under real constraints, and who prefers the simplest design that will hold up. Responsibilities Own the cloud services behind our product end to end, including data ingestion from the robots, disaster recovery, our customer-facing API, and internal platforms, with high availability and sensible cost Maintain and improve the build system and CI/CD pipelines Scale our deployment and device-management systems from a single robot cluster to many clusters across customer sites, including firmware and differences in hardware between clusters, through customer firewalls and unreliable networks Lead the company through SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and own the controls behind them (access, secrets, network segmentation, audit trails), keeping every deployed change traceable under GMP and 21 CFR Part 11 Act as our technical counterpart to customers' IT and security teams on network requirements, security reviews, and remote access to our systems on their sites Build test and release automation, and write the release policies (what gets tested, who signs off, how a change rolls out) that a GMP customer can rely on Build the infrastructure for high-fidelity robot simulation in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, including GPU compute and running simulation as part of testing Set direction for infrastructure across the software org, review designs, and mentor engineers as the infra counterpart to the robotics software team Qualifications 8+ years building software systems, with a substantial part of that owning infrastructure or deployment Designed and built a non-trivial system yourself (a deploy or rollout system, a device agent, an orchestrator, a provisioning pipeline) and can explain its tradeoffs, failure modes, and what you would change Experience shipping software to computers you don't fully control: robots, vehicles, IoT or edge devices, or on-prem installs at customer sites Have taken a company through SOC 2 or ISO 27001, or owned a major part of an audit Strong in Python, with deep Linux and networking skills: systemd, packaging, and debugging a machine you can only reach remotely Solid AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform or CloudFormation), and enough Docker and Kubernetes to choose when not to use them Clear writing and design docs; comfortable leading technical conversations with customers' IT and security teams, owning several projects at once, and sharing on-call Additional Preferred Qualifications: Robotics, AV, industrial automation, or lab automation background Experience in regulated environments (GMP, FDA, ISO 13485) Firmware update pipelines, embedded Linux (Yocto, Mender, RAUC, OSTree), or hardware-in-the-loop testing Nice to Haves GPU infrastructure or simulation at scale (Isaac Sim, Omniverse, or simulation running in CI) Open-source projects you've written or maintained Physical & Working Conditions Standard work schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support for critical issues or time-sensitive maintenance. Perks & Benefits Total Rewards & Life at Multiply Labs Competitive Compensation: Salary range of $175,000 - $230,000 plus meaningful early-stage equity. We want our team to have a real stake in the future we’re building. Premium Health: Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision plans with subsidies for child dependents. Wealth Building: 401(k) with a 4% company match to help you plan for the long term. Pre-Tax Commuter Benefit. Pay for eligible transit and parking with pre-tax dollars to save on commuting costs. Parental Support: Robust Paid Parental Leave to support your family’s newest additions. True Flexibility: We offer Flexible PTO and 12 Paid Holidays , trusting you to manage your time and recharge when you need it. No Set Hours: Set your own schedule in alignment with your manager and team. We hold a high bar, measuring success by impact and outcomes – not hours logged. Office Perks: A vibrant SF office culture featuring catered team lunches , stocked kitchen, and frequent team events. H-1B and Green Card sponsorship available for exceptional talent. Referral bonuses for helping us build a world-class team. Great people, meaningful work , and a team that genuinely believes in what we're building . Come build the world’s best robots—and help make life-saving therapies accessible to all. We actively seek candidates with diverse perspectives and lived experiences. We’re committed to building a team where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work. Multiply Labs encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply — even if you don’t meet every qualification. If you’re excited about our mission and think you can contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Our headquarters is located in San Francisco’s vibrant Dogpatch neighborhood. This role does not require regular travel. Occasional travel may be expected on the same basis as the rest of the Software Engineering team (e.g., team offsites, occasional on-site support needs).
