Job description

Transforming into an AI ERP Distru is the #1 ERP in the Cannabis Industry with $15B in sales processed through our platform. We’ve built a battle-tested ERP and B2B eCommerce platform that powers inventory, manufacturing, sales, and logistics. We are expanding on our robust ERP foundation and building AI infrastructure to provide commercial businesses their all in one AI stack. We are growing, profitable , and in a strong position to invest in the AI transformation of our product, GTM motion, and internal way of working. We’re investing heavily in resources including company wide AI classes + workshops, AI demo days, AI hackathons, and access to the best in class models/tools. We take a tremendous amount of pride in our culture and have 5/5 stars on Glassdoor because we truly care about our people. Our investors include Felicis Ventures , Global Founders Capital , Poseidon Asset Management , and Village Global who have funded companies such as Shopify, Cruise, HelloFresh, Facebook, Slack, and Opendoor. The Opportunity We are building our AI-first team. We are shifting the majority of our engineering efforts over to AI-first initiatives, and we’re looking for our first AI Product Engineer to lead the technical buildout of our agentic ecosystem. We are in the early stages, which means you get to architect the entire system from the ground up with our team and make strong, opinionated decisions about the agentic stack and where it goes next. AI is at an inflection point in model capability for the enterprise use case, and AI assistants like Codex/Claude/Grok are seeing record adoption in the workplace. We believe the System of Record has never been more valuable for consolidating and organizing data for AI to act upon. We started with our AI Order Agent, which is now rolled out across our customer base and lets buyers submit orders from any source and in any format. That is the first piece of a much bigger agentic ecosystem. The AI space is incredibly dynamic so the specifics will change with time, and this vision is something you will mold. You’ll be taking full ownership over the technical direction of our AI product suite: defining the architecture, scoping the orchestration, and building out the agent systems and eval suites that make them reliable in production. You’ll also be choosing the key features we build, prioritizing the ones that drive the most revenue impact for the future of Distru. This role sits close to the customer. You’ll work directly with customers and with our go-to-market and revenue teams to understand which features and suites will have the highest impact, then turn that into a shipped product. A lot of this role comes down to taste: knowing what to build, what to cut, and what a great agentic experience feels like for the user. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about building great AI products and who is ready to roll up their sleeves with us. There’s a lot of autonomy and room for innovation in this role. We welcome any new and wild AI forward ideas you love! Our Team Culture Rather than us defining our culture, check out what the team has to say ! What You'll Own Build the agentic harness Architect and build a multi-agent system in production — one capable of safely operating across a business's core tools (ERP, CRM, spreadsheets, calendars, email, analytics, compliance systems) Build and maintain MCPs (Model Context Protocol integrations) that connect the harness to real business systems Own production system concerns end-to-end: reliability, observability, permissions, and safe workflow execution — this is a system that will take real actions on customers' data, and the bar for getting it right is high Tech Stack: LangGraph, Next.js, React, Prisma, Claude Code Own the product, not just the code Since there's no existing playbook here, you'll define scope, make the call on tradeoffs, and drive execution with minimal oversight Design for the user, not just the architecture — a product-first mindset that prioritizes how this actually gets used over what's technically interesting to build Proactively identify and raise risks or open questions before they become blockers, and bring structured solutions, not just problems Stay at the edge of the AI ecosystem Keep pace with a fast-moving space — agent frameworks, harness toolkits, MCP standards — and bring in better approaches as they emerge rather than waiting to be told Work hands-on with tools like Claude Code as part of your own build process Who You Are Must-Haves 5+ years of full-stack development experience, ideally in B2B SaaS applications Hands-on experience building multi-agent harnesses in production — not just prototypes or personal projects Experience building MCPs (Model Context Protocol) that are actually used in production Strong grasp of production system concerns: reliability, observability, permissions, and safe workflow execution Experience across product and engineering — you've operated as both. You should be comfortable owning scoping and decision-making, not just implementation Proficiency in modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and LangGraph, with the ability to quickly pick up new tools and frameworks Startup agility: experience at an early-stage startup (under 20 engineers) where you've operated effectively in ambiguous, unstructured environments Low ego, team-first mentality — you measure success by what shipped and whether it worked, not by internal politics Clear, proactive communicator — you raise concerns and propose solutions before being asked Nice-to-Haves Background building in supply chain, ERP, CRM, B2B marketplaces, or accounting software Experience with UX design Familiarity with agentic systems and multi-agent orchestration beyond what's listed above (e.g., evaluation frameworks, agent-to-agent protocols) Experience using Claude Code or similar tools to build products independently Cannabis industry experience Distru was formed by an environment of mutual respect and trust made up by people working together without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information (including characteristics and testing), military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by law. We believe that diversity and inclusion among our team members is critical to our success and we proactively strive to recruit, develop and retain the best and brightest people from the most diverse candidate pools we can find all over the world.
