Job description

ABOUT SPRIG Sprig is the customer survey platform, rebuilt around AI agents. For two decades, teams have relied on Qualtrics, Medallia, and SurveyMonkey to understand their customers. These platforms were built for a slower era, with manual setup, fragmented workflows, and insights that arrive too late to shape decisions. The gap between how fast products move and how fast research can keep up has never been wider. We're building something different. With Sprig, AI agents design studies, adapt surveys in real time, and turn responses into clear, actionable insight. Teams move from question to evidence in hours instead of weeks, without sacrificing rigor. Product teams no longer guess. They know. Our mission is to make deep customer understanding effortless and always on, so the best teams in the world can build products their customers love. Companies like Microsoft, DoorDash, Notion, Figma, Coinbase, and TripAdvisor use Sprig to stay close to their users. Backed by $85M from Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and First Round Capital, we're growing quickly across the world's leading product organizations. The category is being rebuilt, with AI at the core. If you're excited by hard problems and the chance to define how modern teams understand their customers, we'd love to meet you. ABOUT THE ROLE Agents pay off when engineers hand them whole changes, which makes the build-and-test loop the safety gate for the entire org. When CI is slow or flaky, teams lose time waiting and re-running to separate noise from real failures. This role owns that loop: how quickly a change, from a human or an agent, becomes a signal people trust. That means incremental CI on a large TypeScript, React, and Go monorepo, fast and meaningful test automation, and short-lived environments spun up per branch instead of queued. We're looking for a builder, not someone to inherit a ticket queue. You'll help set the direction for how development works in an agent-heavy world, then deliver it, as part of the Platform team that supports over a billion visitors a month and nearly a billion events a day! YOUR IMPACT - Modernize the JS/TS build: Lead the move to maintain Bazel tooling and replace accumulated workarounds with a cleaner, faster setup. - Make CI faster, cheaper, and observable: Track build and test performance, improve caching and parallelism, and give the team the data to make build decisions with confidence. - Make testing a first-class developer experience: Own how engineers and agents write, run, and trust tests, with local runs that match CI, automatic flake handling, and quality checks that act as real gates. - Build ephemeral, agent-ready environments: Replace shared, long-lived environments with fast, isolated, reproducible ones that people and agents can spin up on demand and use safely in parallel. YOUR STRENGTHS - Build systems depth, including frontend: 6+ years owning a build system, with a deep understanding of build correctness and performance (hermeticity, sandboxing, caching, and invalidation). Hands-on experience owning production frontend build pipelines (webpack, Vite, esbuild, or Turbopack) and shared UI packages. - CI/CD as a platform: Experience owning incremental builds, test sharding, runner fleets, presubmit/postsubmit design, and merge queues, with an understanding that services and UI need different feedback loops. - TypeScript/Node fluency: Strong expertise in Node.js module resolution and packaging (CJS/ESM, exports). NICE TO HAVE - Experience with Bazel or a comparable monorepo build tool (Buck2, Pants, Nx, Turborepo) is a strong plus. - Experience building agentic workflows within the software development lifecycle (SDLC). - Ownership of test infrastructure such as flake detection and quarantine, ideally including test suites like Jest, Playwright, or Cypress in hermetic builds - Comfort working in a polyglot repo alongside Go BENEFITS & PERKS - Competitive Salary - Competitive Employee Equity - 401K Program - Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits - FSA/HSA Benefit - $175/month Commuter Benefit - Additional Wellbeing Benefits - Flexible Paid Time Off - Paid Parental Leave - Professional Development Stipend - Hybrid Office Policy - Lunch and dinner daily - Company Sponsored Social Events At Sprig, we pride ourselves on being a people-first company where your contributions matter and your impact is visible. We’ve been recognized as a Great Place to Work® for three consecutive years and have also been named one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces in the Bay Area® and one of Built In’s Best Places to Work®. If you're excited about helping build products that millions of users love while shaping the future of AI-powered user research, we'd love to meet you. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. EMPLOYEE PAY DISCLOSURE The salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $260,000 + Equity + Benefits.
