Payments / Infrastructure Engineer – Fintech

• The whole money-movement stack: card issuing, ledger integrity and reconciliation
• CI/CD, monitoring and reliability, from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of cardholders
• Security and fraud controls that hold up as volume grows
• Architecture choices you reason through from first principles
• Real distributed-systems and high-throughput work that you personally led, ideally with numbers (volume, latency, uptime)
• Some security exposure
• You reason from first principles instead of copying a previous employer's setup onto a new problem
• 2+ years of engineering experience (roughly 2–5; depth beats years)
• In person in San Francisco, 9-9-5

From the employer

You've built a high-throughput system with your own hands. Now own the money-movement stack of a fast-growing fintech. A seed-stage fintech in San Francisco runs the card and payment rails behind education-funding programs in the US: families get instant access to education money, and program administrators get automated fraud detection. The product is live and growing fast, with new programs coming on board. The team is small, flat and in person, made up of former founders and senior fintech risk people. What you'll own • The whole money-movement stack: card issuing, ledger integrity and reconciliation • CI/CD, monitoring and reliability, from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of cardholders • Security and fraud controls that hold up as volume grows • Architecture choices you reason through from first principles Must-haves • Real distributed-systems and high-throughput work that you personally led, ideally with numbers (volume, latency, uptime) • Some security exposure • You reason from first principles instead of copying a previous employer's setup onto a new problem • 2+ years of engineering experience (roughly 2–5; depth beats years) • In person in San Francisco, 9-9-5 Bonus points • Ledger, reconciliation or card work (a plus, not a must: quant, cloud-infra or security systems count just as well) • You saw a company scale fast and can explain which shortcuts and tests you chose • No payments background needed: the team hires on skill, not on a fintech logo What's in it for you • $150k–$210k base + 0.8–0.9% equity • Ownership of a critical system at a company that is doubling down on growth • Visa sponsorship available Good to know • Full-time, in person in San Francisco, 9-9-5 • Process: intro call with a founder → technical deep-dive → take-home plus whiteboard presentation → paid on-site work trial (three to five real projects) → offer When you apply, please include • Your CV (PDF), your LinkedIn URL , and GitHub if you have one • The high-throughput system you led, with its numbers • Your current location, and confirmation that in person in San Francisco on 9-9-5 works for you • Your visa or citizenship status, and if you'll need sponsorship • Your base salary expectation, your notice period, and any other interview processes you're in Does this sound like you?
