About the Role
We are partnering with a Tier 1 investment bank on a strategic initiative to build its next-generation FX Risk Platform. As a technology solutions provider, our team is delivering a modern, scalable architecture that consolidates global risk management capabilities and systematically decommissions legacy risk applications across the enterprise.
In this role, you will be embedded alongside our client's engineering teams to build the front end for the platform's new FX Options intraday risk capabilities. You will drive the development of real-time reporting interfaces through which trading desks and risk managers view moving risk metrics throughout the trading day, taking full ownership of features across the complete delivery lifecycle—from gathering requirements with trading desks to production release.
Locations: New York, NY (hybrid - 3 days/week office attendance).
Ideal Candidate Profile
This position is ideal for a front-end engineer who cares deeply about UI performance and accuracy—ensuring a screen full of moving numbers remains truthful, fast, and legible for traders making live execution decisions. You will thrive here if you enjoy joining an established engineering team, absorbing complex domain context quickly, and iterating directly with demanding end users.
Essential functions
What You’ll Work On
• Real-Time Risk UI Development: Build and refine responsive React/TypeScript user interfaces for real-time intraday risk reporting on FX Options.
• High-Frequency Data Visualization: Design fast-moving risk views that remain performant, clear, and readable as high-frequency numbers update during active trading hours.
• Trader & User Collaboration: Engage directly with FX trading desks and partner system teams to gather requirements and rapidly iterate on UI functionality based on live feedback.
• End-to-End Ownership: Drive changes through the complete lifecycle, including UI design, architectural review, development, testing, and production deployment.
• Legacy Modernization: Support the transition of front-end capabilities away from legacy intraday risk applications to enable their retirement.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
• Core Front-End Expertise: Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, with a strong track record of shipping production-grade front-end applications.
• Real-Time UI Performance: Demonstrated experience building interfaces that handle real-time or frequently updating streaming data while maintaining low latency and UI responsiveness under heavy load.
• Backend Integration: Comfort integrating with server-side APIs/services and collaborating closely with backend core Java engineers.
• Clear Communication: Excellent communication skills for weekly collaboration with trading desks, partner system owners, and technical leads.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field.
Would be a plus
Highly Valued (Nice to Have)
• Financial UI Experience: Prior experience building trading, risk, or market data UIs, including hands-on experience with high-performance enterprise data grids at scale.
• Capital Markets Domain: Understanding of Foreign Exchange (FX) or financial derivatives, particularly FX Options and risk sensitivities (Greeks).
• Java Ecosystem Familiarity: Basic understanding of the Java ecosystem sufficient to read and reason about backend microservices feeding the UI.
• Enterprise Banking: Prior background in global investment banking or complex, highly regulated enterprise environments.
We offer
• Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects
• Work with a highly motivated and dedicated team
• Competitive salary
• Flexible schedule
