Job description

Location Salem, Oregon Type Contract Post Date 10/15/2026 Description Job Id: 73502 Business Systems Analyst Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join their governance team. This role will focus on business process rather than traditional IT work. The analyst will study how requests are received and work is tracked, then recommend practical ways to improve efficiency and visibility without adding labor. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can step in quickly, build trust with long-tenured team members, and turn their expertise into clear, lasting documentation. This role is fully remote. Business Systems Analyst Responsibilities • Assess and document current-state business processes for intake and work tracking, including interviewing team members to understand how work actually gets done. • Create current-state process maps and workflow diagrams that clearly show handoffs, approvals, and pain points. • Identify opportunities to streamline intake and reduce manual effort in work-tracking tools through process changes, automation, or technology improvements. • Present recommendations to leadership on improvement options, including estimated costs and expected benefits. • Capture institutional knowledge from experienced team members, including step-by-step procedures, priority and routing rules, approvals, exceptions, and key deadlines. • Convert recorded walkthroughs and interview notes into draft procedures for team review, prioritizing the highest-risk knowledge first. • Organize all documentation in a single, accessible location and develop a plan to complete and maintain it over time. • Partner with senior team members to shape the future-state process so it reflects their experience. • Support the groundwork for future intake automation by defining clear business rules and requirements. Business Systems Analyst Qualifications • Hands-on experience with process mapping and diagramming software, such as Visio, and project planning tools. • Proven business analysis experience with a focus on process improvement, workflow documentation, and requirements gathering. • Self-starter who can work independently, manage their own time, and hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate interviews and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. • Experience documenting procedures, business rules, and decision logic, ideally in a knowledge-capture or process-documentation setting. • Familiarity with work-tracking tools such as Jira and an understanding of how to improve their use. • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 5-7 years of progressive business analysis experience, preferably in financial services or a related industry. • Business analysis or project management certifications, such as CBAP, CCBA, or PMP, are a plus.
