Job description
ABOUT TAXWIRE
Taxwire is building an AI-native global sales tax engine & managed service for finance teams. We handle sales tax and VAT from end to end for hundreds of mid-market companies and dozens of accounting / tax firms. We’ve raised ~$25M in venture capital from firms like Headline, XYZ, Vinyl, and dozens of CFOs, founders, and tax practitioners.
Indirect tax is high-stakes, fragmented, and unforgiving. Rules change constantly, vary by product and location, and create real financial risk when companies get them wrong.
We hire people with high ownership, strong judgment, and low ego. Everyone at Taxwire is expected to understand the customer, solve messy problems end to end, and build systems that scale. We move quickly because our customers depend on us to get it right.
Death and taxes are forever. If you want to operate in one of the largest markets in the world and sovle a massive, enduring problem with a team of people playing to win, Taxwire is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring our first dedicated Account Executive to own the full sales cycle – from outbound prospecting through close.
You'll sell to finance teams at mid-market companies who are either setting up sales tax for the first time or replacing an incumbent that's failing them.
You'll report directly to our CEO and work with our Head of Growth to shape how we sell. Our CEO, CTO, and Head of Growth are all based in New York. If you want to influence the playbook rather than just execute someone else's, this is it.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, demos, negotiation, close
- Run deep discovery calls that uncover the real pain, not just the stated need
- Build pipeline through targeted outbound (we provide tools and targeting, you bring execution)
- Work with accounting firm partners to generate referrals and co-sell opportunities, activating existing relationships and building new ones
- Develop expertise in sales tax to credibly advise CFOs and Controllers
- Help build the sales infrastructure: refine ICP, document what works, improve our process
WHAT YOU NEED
- You're hungry. Winning matters to you. You don't make excuses when you miss – you figure out what went wrong and fix it.
- You're great at discovery. You ask the right open-ended questions. You listen deeply. You can map out a prospect's process, pain points, stakeholders, and timeline while building genuine rapport.
- You have commercial instincts. You know how to run a clean sales process, manage your pipeline hygiene, and read a deal.
- You can talk to finance. Our buyers are CFOs, VPs of Finance, and Controllers. You need to be comfortable in that conversation.
- Minimum 3-5 years of quota-carrying experience experience in B2B SaaS, selling to office of the CFO or finance team is a plus
- Previous experience as part of an early go-to-market team, having helped to build the playbook, processes and tech status to enable a Sales team to be successful
- Experience selling to mid-market businesses, ideally with a complex or technical mission-critical product
- Experience in a high-velocity SMB or mid-market sales environment
- Consistent track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets in a fast-paced environment
- High adaptability and understanding of change within the growth of a startup
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with doing product demos
- You will be responsible for generating a portion of your own pipeline through targeted outbound campaigns (the rest will come from inbound and partner channels)
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working channel/partner motions alongside direct sales
- Finance background or quantitative mindset
WHY WORK AT TAXWIRE
- You want to build the playbook, not just inherit one.
- You want to win, both for yourself and the teammates depending on you.
- You want to learn and achieve personal career growth on an extremely accelerated timeline.
- Excellence is the standard you hold yourself to and you want to be around other people that also hold that standard.
- We work hard and give a lot of fucks, but we have fun while doing it and give equal fucks about the people we work with.
- Our team is deeply credible and experienced within the industry we operate in.
- We’re tackling a massive, complex, global problem in a big market with strong signs of product-market fit, lots of happy customers, and momentum across the broader business.
- We’re well funded by respected institutional VCs and angels.
- Strong equity, competitive salary/commission, and full benefits.
WHY YOU SHOULDN’T WORK AT TAXWIRE
- Early-stage ambiguity or fast iteration makes you uncomfortable.
- You don’t hold a high bar for excellence. You don’t play to win.
- You want structure, hand-holding, or a well-defined playbook.
- You are uncomfortable with direct feedback and accountability.
- You’ve watched Whiplash and found it’s message too hardcore.
BENEFITS
- Company-covered benefits
- Meaningful equity
